"Murder is not okay!"
"Murder is the answer," I replied to the chorus of shouts. "And stop whining. We aren't killing Tyler, just the Hyde."
Tyler looked confused, "I am the Hyde-"
I stood up, commanding their attention. "If you can break the bond between I and Tyler as Hyde and monster, we can break the Hyde away from the vessel."
Enid dusted her knees off, "Does that mean it worked? You aren't going to run away with him?"
"All that feels different is the warnings seem to make sense now," I lied. But there was more differences. Ones I wasn't going to dive into.
Xavier finally sat up. He rested his arms against his knees, "Why were we sent to that memory?" I hate speculating. "That was important to be there and we shouldn't have left. What happens afterwards?"
"It doesn't concern you. It's not your memory. Stop trying to be psychic," I snapped back at him.
He jumped up, "I think I'm owed an explanation. I was thrown in there. Mind you, after you used me to get away from my father-"
"Your dads here?" Bianca asked in surprise.
Xavier paused and looked at the floor, "Ya-I"
"And Wednesday brought him to you and then left?" Bianca pieced together. Her hand rested against her amulet as she glared at me.
"Woah-" Kent jumped in the middle before Bianca attempted to siren song me. "I think we gotta face one problem after another. We've got a masterless Hyde. What if he just....attacks us all?"
I walked over to Tyler and stood in front of him. "For once his own conscious and desires aren't shadowed by a master. Tyler, how do you feel about me?"
He looked up, "Upset, angry, and..... I think the crazy look in your eyes is still hot."
"There you have it," I answered, "And do you want to be separated from the Hyde?"
Tyler looked down at his chains. "If it means I get to be free."
Tyler liked me and my plan. That was assuring enough to believe he wasn't going to at random kill me. Although, he was an excellent liar. Which is why so trusted no one and always had a back up plan. "Let's talk to Pugsly."
We kept Tyler in the library. There would be a guard with him until I figured out the next part. They would go back and forth. Yoko took the first round.
By this time, it was clearly nightfall. We weren't supposed to be up and if I was caught, Weems would lock me up until my evaluation.
I entered my shared room. As my boot crossed the threshold, it pulled a grip wire. A bucket fell to the left of me and a marble rolled across my desk. A line of dominos circled under my bed and across the room. A pulley lifted a wound up toy mouse to a hanging peice of wood where it crawled across. Then it fell down, pending on a spring.
"Duck," I ordered those behind me. They did as a very large Axe swung its way to me. It sliced into the door and stayed there. I stood back up, unharmed. "Pugsly, you failed."
He jumped up from behind the bed, "But I almost had you!"
"No, I've told you this a hundred times. It's too elaborate. Simple and satisfactory will work. I had time to watch your trap unfold and get to safety," I explained. He frowned. "But I need you to build me something."
He smiled gleefully. "It's been a while since you've asked anything from me? A bomb? Explosive arrows? A flaming sword? A big bomb?" He began to ramble.
I put my hand up to stop him. "I need a collar that would sedate Tyler if he changes into the Hyde."
"But Tyler is my friend," Pugsly argued as he jumped up on my bed.
I pulled out materials from my chest, "Well the Hyde isn't."
Xavier moved over to Pugsly, "Can you really make explosive arrows?"
I pulled him back by the back of his shirt. "One task at a time. I think mine takes precedent."
Xavier tilted. He brought his hand up to his head and winced. "A headache?" I asked.
He pursed his lips together, "Far worse, my dad." He sat down on the edge of the bed as Pugsly began to build excitedly. "He's...telling me stuff."
"It's a threat, isn't it?" I asked. He let silence be the answer. "Well if he's doing that to bring me to him, I'll go."
Xavier grabbed my arm gently. He winced again. "It's fine. He shouldn't be able to do this and get what he wants."
"Then we can go to Weems together," I concluded. Weems might really want my evaluation to happen, but she wouldn't tolerate harm to a student. "I'll never let a tyrant tell me what to do," I concluded.
We left everyone this time, just me and Xavier. Divina and Kent had brought dinner food for everyone and we snagged a little bit of it before we were gone. We walked in unison to her office. "I've been told I don't apologize enough," I mused aloud.
He looked over at me, "Have you ever apologized?"
"I have- I" I stopped for a moment, attempting to recall the last time I had apologized. "My family doesn't really do that. My parents can't possibly slight each other and they don't feel a lot of guilt for anything else."
Xavier stopped at the top of the stairs, "Are you going to then?"
"Am I going to what?" I asked.
"Apologize?"
"Wednesday Addams, you are in a world of trouble!" Weems squealed as she floated through her office door and spotted both of us. "You cannot just run away from me!"
I moved around her and into her office. "Your fake therapist is hurting Xavier physically to get me to come back."
"That can't be true-" Weems started.
Xavier cut her off, "He send me high pitched messages in my head. He's always done it to me when he his near by. One time, I passed out."
Weems frowned, "Well I will have him end it immediately."
"The person after the students is a shapeshifter," I blurted. "I've only come across one of those and she stays anchored to this world and so visible because of a descendant."
Weems did something she never did. She froze and fell silent. We watched her for a moment. All I could see was a wave of grief. "I only wish that was true. My-"
"Bonnie Weems is the name etched into the child gravestone in our cemetery," I cut her off. I pulled from my backpack the records that Thing had collected for me. "Only someone must have made a mistake because..." I scanned the paper for the first time and found myself correct. "Bonnie Weems was born to a Larissa Weems and placed up for adoption."
Weems snatched the file from me, "Wednesday Addams, you are a meddling cruel heartless child. This is a crime for stealing and looking into my records. You cannot do this!"
Xavier nodded, "I've tried telling her that before."
"Principal Weems, get over it." I stated. They both gaped at me. "Stop looking at the little picture. Your daughter is wreaking havoc on this school and targeting me! Why?"
