A seed that grew Woe

Enid began to read in Latin. All the best spells were in Latin. Xavier held another candle stick. He brought it to the end of the rope and burned it. It began to follow the line, burning up the infinity symbol.

Tyler just watched me, his eyes tracking every movement in my face. What was he looking for? "Are you sure you did it write? Latin can be tricky to decifer," I finally spoke. I felt nothing. The others looked around at one another, skeptical, but Enid went on in undeterred determination.

As the flame got the the half mark of the infinity, completing its circle around me, I felt it. It was the tug in my body that originally called me to summon Tyler. It strained against me, pulling. I lurched forward as it took over my body.

"What if this hurts her?" Divina whispered.

Ajax looked over at Xavier with concern, "I thought we knew it would cause no harm!"

The world tilted. I felt as if every limb was being pulled off of my body and yet I was barely moving. I grit down, feeling blood in my mouth, "Is this the best you can do?" I wheezed.

Enid's voice wavered in the chant, but she didn't stop. Her hands gripped the podium.

Tyler's part of the rope began to burn. He roared in pain. The Hyde rippled across his body. He was going to transform. The metal grind against itself. "Don't do it," I commanded him.

And then it snapped. Right through me, it halfed. Xavier dropped his candle and his eyes turned white. Ajax's too. The others jumped back as it happened to Tyler. I watched Enid follow suit before my own face fell back.

Unlike my visions, I wasn't thrown abruptly into something else. I was falling in complete darkness. It was like I could feel myself drifting from my own body. And there were others. They were falling away as well.

I finally stopped falling. I was standing on the ground. Appearing before me was Ajax, Enid, Xavier, and Tyler. Ajax looked around, "Whoah, where are we?"

"My mind," I answered. A singular black cobblestone street stretched itself out before us. A dim green light hung over us. "Prepare for a horror show." I began to walk and they fell in line shortly.

Their silent thoughts hung in the air, recalling a moment before when I was at their mercy instead of the other way.

"How do we get out," Enid finally asked.

I stopped. There was nothing but the cobblestone road. "I either die or....."

A building built itself up on the right of us. The bricks climbed together in a rapid pace. Xavier reached out for it. His hand slid across the coarse stone. "What is this place?"

"My grandmother's home," I realized. Grandfather and Grandmother Addams. I moved past the stone fence and slid the iron squeaky gate open. The yard was a pen of sharp weeds, just as was the Addams way. My feet slid over the cracked stepping stones.

Tyler followed me next. "Maybe if we follow where we your mind is taking us, it will lead us to an exit?"

"Do you want to leave?" I asked.

He looked around at the abyss. "I don't enjoy being trapped in my own mind, much less yours."

I moved to the front porch. "Come meet my family." I stepped into the hallways. It was empty and dark. The coat rack had a pile of coats on it that might have implied winter if I didn't know that my grandmother was always freezing and always covered in furs.

Why did my mind take me here? I moved along and everyone else came inside. There were candles lit in the sitting room. A small gothic child stepped into the room. She had two little black braids and a glare that kept most away. It was me. We were in a memory. The only problem was I couldn't recall this one.

"You were adorable as a child!" Enid cooed.

I kept her from walking further, "Don't make me banish you to my imagination. I am still very angry towards you."

Little memory me waddled over and climbed onto the couch. I sat atop a black blanket spread across it.

"Wednesday," an older voiced called. My grandmother stepped into the room. Her black hair was in a pixie cut with gray riddled about it. "What are you doing up? I ordered you to bed."

Little me looked up, still stone faced. "I cannot until mother and father return."

My grandmother raised a painted eyebrow and moved closer, "If you sleep, they will come sooner."

My memory self clutched her hands together. "The habits of my rest have no consequence on my parents return. And besides, grandfather says they won't come back. He says their infatuation with each other leaves nothing else for me."

For a moment, my grandmother didn't answer. "Don't wait for them, little flytrap. A dependency on anyone will only make you weaker." She shooed me off the couch and I slowly sulked off to my room.

"That is considerably the worst advice I've heard," Ajax finally spoke. "You are like five years old here?"

Enid frowned, "Emotional relationships isn't a weakness."

I looked over at Tyler. Yes it is. "I want out of here. Immediately!" I yelled. I had no desire to have a discussion about my family and whatever trauma I may or may not have procured from it.

The house walls shook. "Get me out!" I yelled again. And then everything fell apart.

I was thrown back into my body, which was now on the ground. The others had laid me in a line with the rest of them who had blacked out.

Enid rubbed her forehead. She had fallen forward and hit her head on the podium. Bianca breathed a sigh of relief, "We thought you guys had died!"

I sat up abruptly and looked over at Tyler who was still in his chained seat. "I know exactly what to do."

Xavier spoke, "Did it work?"

"We have to kill the Hyde," I answered.
