Chapter 4

       Work seemed to be going well so far. an employee showed me the ropes and then left me to start working on my own. Luckily the work was easy. A small family walked in and I sat them down at their table and handed out the menus. "Do you know what you want to order?" I asked, with pen in hand. "Two bowls of the chicken fettuccine, and some chicken nuggets and fries for our son." i wrote everything he asked for down as quickly as I could. "And for your drinks?" looking at them with a small but warm smile on my face. "Two waters and a soda." I wrote that down and headed to the kitchen to give the chef the order and then continued taking others orders.

       At the end of my shift my fellow employee congratulated me on my hard work tonight and I then headed home. It took about ten minutes till I reached the building. I headed up the flight of stairs and straight inside the apartment. "Hey Y/N how was work?" Xavier asked as I walked in. "It went well, but I have some school work to do so I'll be in my room." I gave him a quick hug and headed to my room setting my things on the floor next to my desk. I sat down and began working on my endless amount of assignments my teachers have given us. About an hour and a half into my work until my brother came in and dropped off food and headed straight to bed after. I ate it quickly and continued working for a couple of hours until I finally finished. i took my empty plate to the kitchen and got ready for bed.

       I laid there in bed unable to sleep, I tossed and turned but didn't go to sleep. After a couple of minutes staring at the ceiling I gave up and decided to do something that would hopefully help me sleep. I watched a couple episodes of my show which did nothing. Cleaned my room, nope. Dishes? Nice try. After trying some more things, I decided to try to sleep again, which turned out to be useless. I checked the time and saw that it was almost one in the morning. I picked up my phone and played some games but that gave me an idea. I wanted to see if Leo was up and maybe would like to play a couple of rounds of our game again. I overthought it a bit cause he could be asleep and I would be disturbing him. After contemplating a bit I clicked the call button and sat there biting my bottom lip hoping he would be awake and that I didn't wake him.

       It rang for a bit but he picked it up. "Hey Y/N, are you ok?" Leo asked. "Sorry did I wake you up?" I anxiously asked him. He chuckled, "No not at all I'm just watching a movie in the living room. What's up?" I then let out a huge sigh of relief. "nothing much. I can't really sleep. And I wanted to see if you might want to play some video games." "Sure, what do you want to play?" he asked, sounding a bit enthused over the phone. I giggled and suggested the game we played  yesterday which he was happy to do. "Finally you agree to a rematch." he laughed and we began setting everything up to play. "And you will lose again my friend, just wait and see." We then started the first round which I of course won. We continued to play while Leo trash talked to me jokingly in each round but ended up losing in the end. I decided to go easy on him in a couple of rounds where he rubbed it in my face each time. In the end we were tied and I showed him no mercy, and won. That's what he gets for trash talk and rubbing it in my face each time.

       "And that folks is what trash talk gets you." "No fair!" We both laughed and decided to call it a night. "Bye Leo, see you this weekend. Good night." "Night Y/N, sweet dreams." I hung up the phone and crawled into bed and finally went to sleep. 

       I woke up the next morning to the sound of my alarm vibrating in my ears and slowly got ready for school after dismissing the alarms. I felt as if I got hit in the head with a rock and felt warmer than usual even though it was freezing in the apartment. I took it off and finished up and headed out the door and to school. I got into first class and barely halfway through the class I couldn't keep my eyes open, and laid my head down to rest my eyes. the next thing I knew the teacher was over me calling my name, and I slowly lifted my head. The teacher took one look at me and sent me straight to the nurses office. The nurse did their regular procedure and sent me home. I was so confused about why though. I mean I could just be tired from staying up way too long last night. But I didn't feel like myself and continued on my way home. As I climbed my way up the stairs but stopped in his tracks once he saw me.

       "Y/N? Why aren't you at school? Are you ok?" he questioned me out of breath. "Yea the nurse just sent me home, apparently I'm sick." I explained, sounding a little congested. "Could it be from your new job?" "I don't know but I'm just going to sleep it off." He nodded and continued on his way as I continued mine. I went to my room and changed into something comfortable and went straight to bed.

       After a couple of hours I woke up but didn't feel any better. I headed to the kitchen and grabbed some pain killers for the massive headache I was having and went back to my room. I called my boss and said I needed to take a couple of sick days off which seemed like I was just a lazy employee to him but gave it to me anyways. I decided to play some video games and headed to the living room and got comfortable on the couch. when I got on I saw that Leo was online but decided to work on a game that I was trying to beat. As I started a side mission I got a notification, and when I looked I saw it was Leo.

       Leo: "Hey Y/N!"

       Y/N: "Hey Leo."

       Leo: "Aren't you supposed to be in school?"

       Y/N: "Yea, but the nurse sent me home. Apparently I'm sick."

       Leo: "Oh really? Hold on, I'll be right over."

       Y/N: "Leo there's no need, and you might get sick as well."

       Leo: "Too bad, coming over anyways."

       I let out a sigh and continued with my game and about ten minutes later I heard a knock coming from my room. I paused my game and cleaned up my room a bit until there was a knock at my window. As I opened the window Leo hopped in with a bag of snacks in hand. "What happened to seeing me this weekend? And I came with snacks and medicine." I gave a short chuckle and we sat down on my bed. He gave me some medicine that was said to bring down my fever. We sat there and turned on a movie and started snacking on the things he brought. He took a blanket off the end of my bed and wrapped it around me and I laid down while he sat up leaning on my bed frame. Halfway through the movie the meds began to kick in and I fell asleep.

       After a nap I woke up and didn't see Leo next to me. Maybe he went home, I thought to myself. I got up from my bed still wrapped up in my blanket and headed to the kitchen to make myself something to eat. As I entered the room I saw a bowl of freshly made ramen sitting on the table and headed straight for it. I sat down at the table and saw Leo in the kitchen making another bowl of ramen. I began eating until I heard Leo shouting at me which made me jump and almost made me choke on my noodles. "Hey, THOSE ARE MINE. I'M MAKING YOURS." "Well too bad this bowl is already contaminated, just eat that one in your hands." he then sat down after my remark with a pouty and huffed as he ate his noodles. I giggled at his behavior and he chuckled and we continued eating with huge grins on our faces.

       When we finished our meal he began doing the dishes and I cleaned the table. "Thanks for making me something to eat." I thanked him as I finished up. "No problem my princess." he snickered. I did a small giggle and headed back to my room and laid back in my bed. "So what do you want to watch?" Leo asked to walk back into my room and sat down on the other side of my bed. "I might just take a nap. You can go home if you want to." "I'm not going anywhere for now, not until your brother gets here that is. I mean you could up and die if I don't keep an eye on you." he said pulling out his phone. I scowled at him, "I'll be fine, I don't need a babysitter." "We'll see about that." he said with a smug  look across his face. I rolled over with a big sigh and passed out.

       I woke up to pitch black. I fumbled in the darkness looking for the switch to my lamp on my side table. With the lights on I examined my room to see if Leo was still there but there was no sign of him. I got up from my bed and headed to use the bathroom but saw Xavier still in the kitchen probably doing school work. I quickly used the bathroom and headed to the kitchen table and sat next to my brother. "What are you still doing at this hour?" I mumbled loud enough to where he could hear me. "Finishing up an assignment. What about you?" he said, his eyes not leaving his work. "Using the bathroom and to get medicine for my headache." I groaned getting up to get a drink and the meds. "Ok, get some rest and don't worry about school tomorrow. I'll let them know what's going on." letting me know. I nodded and quickly took my medicine and went back to my room. I locked my window and laid back into bed and fell asleep as soon as the medicine kicked in.
