Chapter 7

       It was Christmas eve and I was out and about in the city going from store to store to buy the last remaining gifts for the guys, April, and my brother. After getting through the large crowds I finally finished and made my way back home using the bus since I was on the other half of the city. As I made it home I quickly ran to my room and wrapped everything for tonight.

       Tonight I would be at the lair with the turtles and April and I was going to spend the night there. And I would come back on Christmas day to spend it with my brother and parents who were flying in tomorrow. My brother was already at his friend's place for their boys night, so I just packed my bag and got ready to go. But there was a sudden knock at the window.

       I looked over to see Leo there, I quickly opened the window letting him in. "Hey Leo, I was just about to head that way. What are you doing here?" I asked in a confused manner. He looked around but seemed a bit distraught. "Are you ok?" I reached out for his hand but he jerked it away. I looked at him worried but confused. "Y/n I need to tell you-" There was a knock on the front door cutting him off.

       I quickly walked over as the banging got louder. "What?" I shouted as I opened the door to April on the other side. "Hey girl, are you ready to go?" "Yea but Leo and I were just in the middle of a conversation." I muttered in a low tone. "Oh by all means continue with your conversation." she said with a complacent look on her face. "You're a pain. I'll get him and my things and we can go." She gave me a thumbs up and I returned to Leo.

       "So what did you want to tell me?" I looked over at Leo and finished up with my overnight bag. "Oh uh it was nothing. We should probably go." he said looking upset. "Ok then." I then grabbed my bag and reached for the presents but Leo grabbed them before I could. "I got it." as he grabbed the bag. I smiled at him and we headed out the door to where April was waiting. We made our way down the stairs quickly and out the back door to the manhole cover. We made our way to the lair while coming up with some ideas to do tonight.

       As we arrived Raph and Mikey were decorating their tree and Donnie was probably in his lab. "I have brought guests." Leo exclaimed as we walked into the lair. "April, y/n!" Mikey shouted, running up so us wrapping us up in a hug and Raph soon joined in. "Hey you two." I cheered seeing them. "I'll go grab smarty pants out of his lab real quick." Leo said handing me the bag of presents and walking off to get Donnie.

       "Ooo are those for us?" Mikey exclaimed with joy. I nodded and began laying the presents out under the tree. Leo soon returned with Donnie and we began doing some games that April and the boys put together. Such as pass the parcel, gingerbread house building competition, dirty Santa along with some others.

       After the games we got some pizza and began watching a movie. We all sat down and put on the Jupiter Jim Christmas special. As the movie started I saw Leo head off to his room. When no one seemed to notice I snuck out of the room and headed to Leo's room.

        "Knock knock" I said as I peeked through the curtains. Peering in to see Leo on his bed reading some comics. "Can I come in?" I asked. He nodded and I made my way in. I sat down next to him and he continued reading his comics. "So why aren't you watching the movie with us?" "Eh, never really liked the Christmas special." We sat there in silence while I tried to figure out a conversation starter. Until something came to mind. "So what did you want to tell me earlier back at my apartment?"

       He sat there still looking at his comic book but seemed a bit uncomfortable at the question. "Nothing really." "Well it didn't seem like nothing for you to knock at my window to ask me when you knew I was coming over." He sat there contemplating. He put down his comic and stood up letting out a huge sigh. "The thing I wanted to tell you was-" Mikey soon came running in a panic. "Y/n why did you go? You're missing the movie." "I was talking to Leo." I gestured to Leo who seemed pissed for being interrupted. "Well come on or you'll miss it." He quickly left the room. I looked over to Leo "Come on." Before he could say no I grabbed his arm and dragged him to the living room. We sat down and watched the movie, I then turned to Leo with a warm smile. "This ain't so bad. After the movie we'll open presents, and then you can tell me what you want to say afterwards." he looked over and gave me a soft smile and we then continued the movie with only a half an hour left.

       After the movie was over we headed over to the tree for presents. We all passed around presents and thanked each other. We got done about thirty minutes from midnight and noticed Leo leaning on the entrance to the kitchen while holding a small parcel. I got up and walked over and stood next to him. "So how do you like your gift?" I said smiling at him. "Oh I'll treasure that unicorn onesie you got me." I giggled, "Who's that for?" I questioned him and pointed to the small package in his hands. "Oh it's just for someone special." "Who?" He let out a small chuckle, "You'll see."

       "Ok, I can't... wait.." I was interrupted by a small mechanic sound and Leo seemed to hear it as well. And before we knew it some mistletoe popped down from a latch in front of us. As soon as I processed what it was I felt my face begin to heat up. "Uh Leo what is this?" I asked, laughing nervously. He seemed as confused as me and I could see his cheeks turning red under his mask. We both looked over to the others who all had smug looks across their faces. Leo quickly stormed off to his room pissed and I followed after him. I looked back at the others and rolled my eyes as I continued chasing after him.

       I entered his room to him pacing back and forth. "Leo it's alright, I'm sure it was a joke." I said in a calm voice trying to get him to calm down. "They shouldn't have done that. I trusted Raph and Mikey with my secret and they ruined it for me." I looked at him confused. "What do you mean?"I walked up behind him grabbing his arm, turning him to look at me."You want to sit and talk about it." he nodded, still avoiding contact.

       We sat on his bed and he slowly calmed down enough to talk. "So is this about what you wanted to talk to me about earlier." "Sort of." He let out a sigh and handed me the parcel he was holding. "So I'm the special person." I said in a kind of a high pitched voice to help liven up the mood. He nodded and I slowly opened it. Inside was a small heart pendant. I smiled at it, and hugged Leo. "Thank you Leo, it's beautiful." He hugged me back. "So about the thing I wanted to tell you many times earlier." he said still not breaking the hug. "Mhmm?" I hummed and began rubbing his shell. "I just wanted to tell you that I like you. Not in a friend way but in a more than a friend way. I know it's only been a few months since we met but it feels like I've known you my whole life. I love how you make me feel when I'm around you. I love your laugh. And I love how your smile lights up the room. I love everything about you."

       As he was saying all of this I felt my face warm up, basically turning me into a tomato. "I know this is out of nowhere but I need to get this off my chest." He then backed away from the hug and looked at me, making eye contact. "Will you be my girlfriend?" I sat there knowing my face was red but didn't try to hide it. I opened my mouth but nothing came out. I tried to calm down quickly as he sat there and looked at me. "It's fine if you-" "Yes, yes I'll be your girlfriend." I exclaimed cutting him off.He had a surprised look on his face which slowly grew into a smile. He jumped up from the bed dragging me along with him and pulled me into a hug. I giggled at his excitement and hugged him back not wanting to let him go.

       We heard shuffling of cloth and looked over to see April and Raph holding a stick and tied to it was mistletoe hanging above us. "Oh come on guys can't you give us som-" I cut him off by grabbing his face and pressing his lips on mine. He slowly melted into it and pulled me closer as he wrapped his arms around my waist. We looked at each other and laughed after backing away from each other. I stared deeply into his eyes not wanting this night to end.

       "Awww" we heard April and Raph say at the entrance of Leo's room.  I laughed and took Leo along with me hand in hand and the four of us headed into the living room where a pallet of blankets and pillows were laid out. Mikey and Donnie were already asleep and Raph slept next to them and April laid down close by. Leo and I then got situated to go to sleep. He wrapped me up in his arms pulling me closer to him, and I buried my face into his chest. "Merry Christmas Sunshine."

       "Merry Christmas Leo."
