"Who was that?" I asked Soap as soon as the man with the skull mask left the room. "We call him Ghost" he said. "He is one of the boys, task force 141. He is one of the best, if not the best soldier. Very dangerous on the field. I trust him with my life every day. Ouch, that hurts!".
"You had a piece of metal from the grenade in your shoulder, just like you said. It's out now. I just need to patch up the wound and you're done here. I'll give you antibiotics to avoid infection. And off to bed with you for today!".
"Yes ma'am," he said.
I gave him the antibiotics. "Thanks for the treatment, what would we do without you. I've never seen you here before, are you new here?" he asked me. "Yes, John and I just flew in a week ago," I replied.
"I am very happy to have such a beautiful paramedic to treat me in the future. May I know your name?"
"Wow, very charming, haha. Sure, my name is y/n. I am pleased to meet you. But I hope we don't see each other too often because that means you're hurt."
"Nice to meet you too y/n. We'll see each other more often even if we're not injured. Our unit is in the same barracks as our bosses, Captian Price is part of our unit. The medics are also in the same barracks."
"I've never seen you guys there before. We've seen some of the captains, but I didn't know that units were also housed there. I was wondering why so many rooms are empty."
"Our unit is a special unit so we were housed separately from the others. We've just come from a mission, we haven't been here for a few days and just got back today. I have to go now, I'm meeting the boys for dinner. Maybe we'll see each other later y/n." "See you soon," I said. Soap left the room with your antibiotics in hand.

I set off to look for John and go to the barracks with him, since all the injured people have been treated and the day is almost over.

I found John on the way out of the building. I was just about to say something but he already started speaking.
"Have you seen the guy with the mask? Some soldiers are really weird. This one in particular. You patched up his teammate, didn't you?"
"Yeah right, the guy who hurt himself with a grenade. I'm glad the day is over, I'm so tired. I want to take a shower and go straight to bed."
"Would you like to have something to eat together?" John asked me.
"I think I'll just grab a little snack from the kitchen. I don't feel like a full meal, sorry."
"It's okay, then I'll go eat something with the others. I might check on you later, okay?"
"Okay" I said and we walked on until we were in our rooms without saying another word.
We were both very tired from the day. I said goodbye to John again in the hallway and went to my room.
After closing the door behind me, I went straight to the bathroom to take a shower. I took off my clothes. I noticed that I also have blood on my socks. I keep wondering how that comes about even though we put on a cover-up when treating patients. But that's the way it is when you're in this job.
I jumped in the shower to wash the day off my body. The warm water felt very good on my skin and I started to relax. I closed my eyes for a moment and enjoyed the moment of silence.

I dried off, changed into sweatpants and an oversized t-shirt, and sat on my bed to put on socks.
I then made my way to the kitchen to get a snack and a bottle of water.
As I entered the hallway, I heard a voice that sounded familiar. I looked left and saw Soap standing in the hallway talking to someone. So that's where task force 141 is housed, as Soap told me.

Once in the kitchen, I went to the cupboard and got a bag of chips and a bottle of water. I glanced out the window and noticed that it was already dark outside.
I wondered if John would come by again. I enjoyed talking to him about the day in the evening. He was the only person I really knew here.

Lost in thought, I didn't notice someone coming in the door.
I only heard footsteps that pulled me out of my thoughts. I turned and almost screamed when the man in the mask came towards me. Without saying a word, he walked past me and got a cold coke from the fridge.
I noticed that he was wearing a different mask. This was made of fabric, but also had a skull on it. Suddenly he shifted his gaze to me and stared straight into my eyes. I was getting very nervous again and didn't know what to say.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" asked he. "I... I don't know. It wasn't on purpose, sorry," I replied.
He looked at me for a while and then left the room without a word.

I felt like this guy didn't like me. I didn't know why, but I didn't particularly like him either.
I went back to my room and lay down on my bed. I ate my chips and checked my phone. No news. I don't think John's coming by anymore.
I put my phone down and fell asleep straight away.
