Teacups were empty, and the plates that were once filled with many sweets were vanished, the room was filled with a mixture of thick air and light, as Damien and Nick tried their best to lighten the mood after telling Kaz about Thomas, Kaz would every now and then keep a close eye on the couples, his sad eyes observed the way his dear little sister would smile so softly, but what pained him the most were her eyes, they were filled with nothing but pure love and kindness, the ones that he had missed so much when they were kids; he had to force himself to look away, but his eyes lead him to the one face he dreaded to look at, Thomas' eyes, they were filled with pure passion and filled with nothing but love, Kaz felt punching Thomas' smug smile when Thomas caught him staring at him and he would purposely provoke him by placing his arm around her slender shoulders and pulled her close to him which lead to her to have her head on his shoulder, Kaz took a deep breathe before forcing his attention to his sister and his friends. "I thought you were her boyfriend, I would've been alright with that, but this guy? Really sis? You had to pick him? I better not hear from your best friends that you have either tattoos or piercings on your body." Jess rolled her eyes, crossing her arms, "I'm not a little kid anymore, Dad," Kaz glared at her, "No you're not, but as your big brother, I have a job, and that is to protect you, give you advice and to make sure that you don't go to the wrong road," both Nick and Damien smiled softly before Nick touched Kaz's shoulder, "don't worry, she's not, we were doing your job for you, Thomas even helped her along with us." Kaz took a moment to process what he meant by that, "what do you mean by...?" Damien mentally slapped himself, Nick has done it, the reason why he didn't say anything was because he didn't want to worry Jess' brother, knowing him, Kaz can be a little- "did someone laid their hands on my precious little sister?" Kaz glared at both Nick and Damien, trying to intimidate them to get answers, Nick nervously looked at Jess, and Jess looked down at her hands as if her hands were interesting, Thomas took her hands and gave them a light squeeze, "he needs to know," Thomas whispered next to her ear, Jess nodded and let out a shaky sigh, "you're right, knowing my brother, he'll find a way to get information, there is no stopping him..." Jess softly said before letting out a bitter laugh, taking another breath, she looked into her brother's eyes, "Well, remember my childhood crush?" Kaz paled a little then anger to sadness after she told him about what had happened since the start to when she had enough and decided to exchange schools, after she was done sharing her story, she let out a shaky breath. "That brat- why didn't you tell me? You could've called me..." Kaz took her hands in his, "It doesn't matter," "It does matter, you're my sister..." Jess forced a small smile, "are you okay?" Kaz asked her softly, Jess sat frozen, never in her years had someone asked her if she was okay, she couldn't hold it in as tears slipped, she quickly blinked and wiped her tears with her sleeve and then regained her posture, she smiled bitterly and nodded her head, "I am now, don't worry about me, I know I'm safe now." She whispered, reaching to hold his hand and squeezing it gently, reassuring him and herself.
"I may love her, but I deserve better."
