"Hey, Jess! World to Jess, you there?" Jess blinked a few times to see her best friend, Damien, she shook her head and tried her best to stop having her mind in the clouds for the third time today. "I'm here, what was that you were saying again?" Damien sighed, annoyed but then chuckled to himself, he wasn't surprised that his best friend would pay attention, he knew she loves to get lost in her own mind, "I said, how are you and her doing?" She groaned and was about to slam her head on the table, but ended up banging her forehead gently at the edge of the cafeteria table, before moving her head to the side to stare at him with bored eyes, "still the same as ever." She let out a tired sigh and sat up straight, "I still don't get it, what I did to make her hate me this much." She poked the unfinished sushi that she had made last night, she lost her appetite. She felt Damien patting her back gently, "cheer up Jess! I'm sure it will be alright, you just need to have hope and patients!" Jess rolled her gray eyes before taking a nibble of her sushi, swallowing it after, "it has been like what? Three years that I have been waiting for a sign, and nothing." He sighed, "look Jess, why don't you just go and ask her on a date, instead of arguing like old married couples." Her eyes widened when she heard this, she began to feel flustered and, she quickly backed away using her feet to scoot her chair back, "are you crazy?! I can't just 'go up to her and ask her on a date' Damien! She could literally cut my head off!" He rolled his dark brown eyes and took a bite of his chicken salad, "hear me out Jess, ask her out before it's too late." She shrunk in her seat, pouting, "as if it's easy, she'll probably eat me before I even stutter a word to her." He chuckled as he stood up to throw his trash away, he quickly returned to his seat and grabbed either side of the edges of the seat, and pulled her next to him, "at least try Jess." She shook her head, taking another nibble of her sushi, "not the right moment, for now, I'll wait for a bit." He sighed, shaking his head but then smiled, "want some?" She offered, getting another pair of chopsticks out of the case, he chuckled, nodding. "You're going to have to feed me, I don't know how to use those." He pointed at the chopsticks, she giggled, "I'll teach you." He pouted but nodded, she smiled as she taught him how to use the chopsticks, it took him a few tries but he got the hang of it, a few minutes later, they finished eating, Jess stood up and picked up her trash, throwing it to the bin, returning to her seat next to him, they chatted for a bit longer, until in the far distance she heard a familiar voice, coming from the other side of the room from where Damien and Jess are sitting at. Jess stopped talking when she saw her. Zoe. She quickly looked away, slamming her forehead at the edge of the table for the second time, she cursed under her breath, repeating it three times, for some reason she can feel her staring through her soul, with that smirk on her face. Jess heard footsteps approaching them, great. "Well if it isn't Jess Hemlock." Jess groaned and her eyes slowly looked up to see her, "what do you want?" Jess felt too lazy to speak politely to her, which caused Zoe to frown, "nothing, sheesh, you're just wasting my time." Jess watched her walk away, her friends following behind her, she groaned again, slamming her forehead on the table once more. "Stop doing that Jess, you'll hurt yourself." "Good, I don't want to be here anyway." Jess then felt cold hands on either side of her cheeks, oh no. "Stop being so blue and lighten up, please? You should change that attitude when you are speaking to Zoe if you want something different to happen between you guys." He did his puppy eyes, pressing his hands a little hard on either side of her cheeks, forcing her to do the kissy face. Jess rolled her eyes and smacked his hands away, glaring at him. "No one touches my cheeks, got that?" She watched him lifting his hands in defense, causing her to smirk. As Damien was about to speak the bell rang, signaling that it was time to get back to class, she stood up, patting his shoulder, and quickly walked away, leaving the cafeteria, and walked down the hallway to her classroom, she was about to step into her classroom but stopped when she heard someone calling her name it was Zoe. Jess took a breath in and out, she stopped and side-glanced her way, with no emotion, waiting for her to catch up. When she finally caught up, she began to speak. "We need to talk, meet me at the back of the school grounds by the apple tree, after school, don't be late." Jess rolled her eyes and entered the classroom. 'Great. Now I'll be late to get my ass home.' She took her seat and sat down, reaching for her backpack, and laying it on her lap, she pulled out her book and began to read, knowing that the teacher would be absent.
'I wonder what does Zoe want to tell me?'
