Part thirteen:
It was 4:30 pm and we all were getting ready. Tania was tying my frizzy hair. My hair has always been unmanageable and thus I looked a little wrecked. She had a tough time styling my hair. After much trial she gave up and let my hair fall open till my shoulders.
"I cannot manage your hair! It's exactly like you. Unruly!!", Tania cribbed.
"I am unruly!! Huh! Okay fine let it be.", I said and left the room.
I was passing by Rudra's room when I heard him scream.
"Oh no oh no! Shit! This...uh"
The noise came from the room. The door was slightly open.
"Oh no! Damn!", he screamed again.
I was terrified by now. I peeped into the room and saw something which tickled me enough to give out a loud laugh but somehow I controlled. I saw Rudra stuck in his kurta with his one hand in and the other hand trying to pull down the kurta from his head. But sadly, the first button was not open so his head got stuck and somehow he tangled himself in it. I silently went inside and unbuttoned it.
"Oh! Thank god!", he said and pulled down the kurta without seeing me. I turned around to leave when he caught the sight of his helper.
"You!!", he exclaimed. I turned towards him.
"When ever I'm in trouble, how come you are around?", he asked.
"Umm that's because you keep creating problems for yourself", I replied.
"You are...", he stopped and looked straight at me. He raised his eyebrows.
"What? What happened?", I asked.
"Today you look like a human.", he said scratching his forehead.
"Will you just shut up!?", I snapped.
He just laughed. I left the room. He was trying to be friendly probably because I offered him water and helped him to get untangled. I thought.
I went down to the living room and saw VK already sitting there in his sky blue sherwani. He was looking too handsome. Some elderly relatives were talking to him. I didn't disturb them. I went to the garden to see if all the chairs and tables were laid. I was checking everything once again. Rudra came down in few minutes. I didn't pay much heed to him as he directly went to Param who was in the garage with his men.

There were some kids playing on the stage. I went to them. They knew me as I have once interacted with them before.
A kid came to me and said, "Didi, can you lift me up? I want to sit on the chair."
He was of about five years old. When I interacted with the kids I saw him biting nails. I had asked him his name and told him that it was a bad habit. I didn't remember his name that time.
"Surely, what is your name first tell me.", I asked sweetly.
"Aljun", he said not being able to pronounce 'Arjun'. It was too sweet a gesture. I picked him up on my lap and went up to the stage to put him on the chair.
He clapped with joy. I smiled at him and pulled his right cheek. His eyes gleamed.
There came Rudra in front of the stage and called me, "Shehnaya, VK is calling you." I turned back and before I could answer him the kid held my hand and jumped down the chair and ran straight to Rudra. He jumped off the stage and Rudra caught him taking him in his lap.
"Arjun, I said no naughtiness here.", he warned him. I came down the stage and was going to VK.
"Okay Papa, promise", I heard this. I stopped and turned with astonishment. I went to Rudra who was busy tickling the kid and asked, "What did he just say?"
"What?", he asked.
"Papa", said the little one.
Rudra took him down from his lap after kissing his forehead and asked him to go and play with the others.
He sighed and said, "He is my girlfriend's son."
"Son? Means?", I asked.
"Umm she was married and got divorced. So now both of them are my responsibility.", he smiled and said.
I wanted to ask him more about this but thought maybe I might sound too inquisitive about his personal life. I gave him a faint smile and said, "He is very cute. Arjun. Arjun what?"
He pulled his collar up and said, "Arjun Rudra Adhikary"
I smiled once again. "So your girlfriend is not here to attend the ceremony?"
"Umm no. She is back in Dubai. She works in the airlines." he winked like VK and said.
I smiled once again and now went into the house to meet VK. I was very interested to know more because Rudra had no personality of a father. He himself was so careless and callous. I didn't dare to ask him anything more.
VK was in the corridor. He saw me and said, "I was coming to you. Listen, Romita is on the way...do receive her please."
"Surely", I said. VK went out and I went in search of Tania. She was taking too long to get ready. I hurriedly walked into the room to tell her about Rudra.
"Tania!! You won't believe what I just got to know!", I entered the room exclaiming.
"What is it?", Tania seemed least interested as she was busy giving a finishing touch to her face.
"Rudra has a girlfriend and a kid. No, I mean a kid with a girlfriend. Ugh!! A girlfriend with a kid", I messed it all up in excitement.
"What do you mean!? Uff! Please be clear.", Tania said getting irritated now.
"He has a girlfriend who has a son. She is divorced and the son is so cute! Aww!!", I said pulling my own cheeks.
Tania looked at me from the mirror and made faces. "So what?", she asked.
"So what means? Come on aren't you surprised? Like, a carefree stupid guy like Rudra has a responsibility of a five year old son?", I asked.
Tania said, "Offo, Shehnaya. He is twenty eight. In ancient times, boys used to get married at twenty and became father at twenty five. There is nothing to be so surprised."
I looked at her and thought she was not wrong. It was quite natural.
"Umm yeah...you are right. Anyway, let's go down. VK asked us to receive Romita di. She is on the way." I said.
We both went down. Romita's car was already at the gate. We rushed to received her. She was looking gorgeous in a light pink lehenga. We took her inside. The ceremony would begin at six. There was an hour in hand.
