Zaigham had always controlled his anger before it made itself known. It was one of the few qualities within him that he appreciated. But today, it seemed that the universe wanted him to lash out at someone just by a mere question.
A mere question that could tarnish all that he had built over the years.
A mere question that could stain her reputation when she was nothing but innocent in all this.
For crying out loud, even he didn't have an idea of the secret affair he was having.
Zaigham should've known what Diya was up to the moment she showed up. He wasn't too fond of her, ever. There were many reasons for it, each more narrowed down and simple than the other and the most prominent one was-
Diya didn't know how to mind her own business.
He was on his way to the newsroom, knowing well that the woman might be showering herself with compliments and words of appreciation from her seniors on finding such a hot topic for a good gossip days before the state would fall into queues to give their votes.
His phone had been blaring on the seat beside him for the past half an hour, since the time the news was aired. He knew who it was on the other side but did not bother checking it because if he did, he could not guarantee the calmness of his words.
As expected, the news headquarters was flooded with people. Zaigham didn't need to say a word as they parted to give him way. Numerous murmurs reached his ears, none of which captivated him for him to pay attention to.
"Arey, Zaigham! What a pleasant surprise!"
Diya's excited voice reached his ears. Looking past the stunned faces, he focused only on her as she made her way toward him. A victorious grin adorned her lips as she tried to hug him but of course, Zaigham wasn't fond of unwanted touches.
Side-stepping her hug with ease, he was quick to get a glimpse of her embarrassed expression before she covered it up.
"Yaha kya kar rahe ho tum? Anything important?"
(What are you doing here?)
The glint in her eyes told him enough of a story for a lethal smile to bloom on his face. He didn't like being toyed with, especially when the person doing it was as measly as a mouse.
"No, nothing important. Just wanted to re-check the headlines you're broadcasting around the country."
"Oh! I'm so sorry for that lekin, I'm a reporter. It's my job to show the people what they wish to see."
Zaigham held onto his patience like a good radiance, breathing in and out to not let his temper slip.
"Secret affair? Really? Couldn't you come up with something even remotely close to creative?"
