It was the usual Saturday. It had been two weeks since Aizawa took the girl in. He helped her with school at times or training. She was fairly independent, but it was obvious she needed parental guidance still. This led to him being a very obvious father figure. So much that Kayama and Yamada would tease him about it. They would often call the girl little Zawa or tiny Aizawa to tease him and her further. He had let this girl take a big hold on his heart. He never would have thought he'd be a father, but this little girl really changed that. He would do anything to help her, keep her happy and safe.
Once you had been living with him for a bit longer, you had invited Mezo to hangout at your new home on a friday. He seemed rather curious about the guy who took you in. After all, you spoke rather positively of the man. Upon arrival, both Aizawa and Mezo got good impressions of each other. Mezo noticed the way the stern man would soften for you. With time they'd probably get along like friends, bonding over their shared love for you.
You both decided to go out and try the new steamed bun place nearby after playing video games and talking. You went to tell Aizawa, who was in the kitchen. He watched Aizawa nod and pat your head. On your walk to the restaurant Mezo asked you some questions about how you felt about your new life and your weekend plans. You mentioned Aizawa was going to take you to some places that weekend and train you. The restaurant wasn't too far and the food was really good, you both took some extra steamed buns home. Getting back to your place it was pretty late, Mezo dropped you off with a goodbye hug and a "Have fun with your Dad."
Aizawa took notice at how childish the girl could act. Sure she was mature, but she still was a kid. She was 13 going on 14 and her first 2 years of being a teenager were spent fixing the mess she was forced into as a child. Her habits made sense for someone who went through difficult things growing up. She had a tendency to be motherly or like an older sister towards people. She was also very guarded and judgmental of those around her, constantly watching with a weary eye. When she was childish it was often when she was sleepy or at moments when she was trying something new she'd never got to do as a child. It wasn't like a immaturity childishness more like an innocence to it. There were rare moments where her childish happiness showed, when it did she'd be bubbling happily with a child-like innocence in her eyes. It reminded him of how the girl had all her childhood taken away to become whatever perfect trophy either of her parents wanted. This clearly left her in need of healthy parenting to relearn what it means to live.
When she was really sleepy she had the tendency to curl up with a plushy in her arms. One time she was sitting on her bed next to Aizawa. She had a nightmare and he found out because he wanted to check on her before going to bed himself. She was wrapped in her blanket holding a cat plush and was continually yawning or rubbing her eyes. Going over to her he noticed the tears staining her face, wet lashes and her slight distressed expression. He went and put his arm around her comfortingly rubbing her back while she leaned into him. She didn't really say anything when he asked her why she was up besides "bad dream". Deciding to comfort her by just silently sitting by her and giving her light affection. He noticed the way she melted at affection from those she was comfortable with. Eventually she fell asleep curled into his side. He sighed and shifted them so he could comfortably sleep sitting against the headboard. He decided against leaving her, wanting to ensure she got proper sleep. One of her hands slightly clung to his shirt while the other gripped at the plushy. Honestly if someone got a picture it would be so cute.
Eventually you decided you would start calling Aizawa dad, but you wanted to wait for the right moment. Which apparently happened when Aizawa was comforting you. You had decided to go to the shopping market to get groceries and on your way home you got catcalled. This pissed you rightfully off. There were 3 teen guys that just decided to "Hey babe, you're cute! Wanna go to my place." and whistle at you. Flipping them off you just walked home not even glancing in their direction when they switched to insults. An older lady told you off for that as you walked by saying you should've covered up more. You honestly couldn't care less if someone told you to make sure what you're wearing didn't provoke them, because clothes shouldn't be consent for them to act so disgustingly. You weren't sure what Aizawa would say, he didn't really dictate your clothes. Except for weather appropriateness, he hated how you did not care for the cold weather and had to force you to wear winter coats instead of just light sweaters when it snowed. Aizawa noticed your sour mood when you got home. He hadn't seen you this pissed off in a while.
"What happened to you?" When he asked this you debated mentioning anything, but just said screw it.
"Men." Simple answer for the annoying shit stains of human trash you had to deal with.
"What did they do?" He seemed to be annoyed at the men rather than you.
"Catcalling." He sighed, this happened to Kayama a lot. She could handle it fine, but even sometimes it got to her. He knew you had 0 tolerance for shit like that though. Once he noticed you finished putting away the groceries, he held his arms open motioning you over. Walking towards him you just place your head on his chest while gripping onto his shirt. He wrapped his arms around you and rested his head on yours. He was a good foot taller than you.
"Some people have no human decency." He softly said while rubbing your back with one of his hands.
"It's annoying and I'm always held responsible for it..." The way you whispered that so softly made Aizawa think you had tears in your eyes. He decided to back up and go one knee in front of you. He noticed the look of distress in your eyes and he was right about the slight tears. He guessed this probably brought back unpleasant memories from your mother. He sighed and put his hand on your right cheek, cupping your face. His other hand held yours.
"You shouldn't be held responsible for others' irrational actions. You've done nothing wrong kid. Alright?" You nod and he gets up hugging you again.
"Thanks Dad." You felt his grip tighten and you could've sworn he was smiling.
