Once they settled down with their tea, Leo made sure to keep some distance between himself and Aleksandr. He hadn't expected that a panic attack would suddenly hit him or that it would abate just as suddenly by being in the arms of this man. He had never felt as comfortable or tranquil as he had while sitting on the other man's lap. It had been hard for him to create space between them.

But Leo still had a lot of questions about what it meant to be mates. And he wasn't sure how much he could ask Aleksandr or if he even should. His mother and sister had not been of much help in the past and though he had seen a few mated couples in his university, it's not like he could go up to them to ask such personal questions.

There were sitting quietly and drinking when Aleksandr broke the silence.

"How long have you lived in the city? You seem to know and understand the native language well. Isn't that rare for people living in the city since they generally use the common language?"

Leo blinked in surprise at the fact that this guy, call him Aleksandr already Leo, had noticed that about this about him already.

"Oh I have lived in the city for 13 years now. But until I was ten, we used to live with my grandmother in the countryside. She was the one who taught me since she used to talk in the native tongue only. She always used to dislike using the common language even though she understood it perfectly." Leo continued sadly, "We moved to the city when she passed away though."

Her death had hit Leo hard since he was the closest to her and spent most of his time listening to his grandma's fables or eating the delicious dishes she cooked. She used to like taking long walks in the evening and Leo had loved accompanying her during those times. It had been some time since he had thought of her now.

He was about to say something but stopped when he noticed the gentle smile on Aleksandr's face. He was looking at Leo fondly as if cataloging every single expression passing through Leo's face and his brown eyes had become so soft they almost seemed liquid.

"I am sorry to hear about your grandma, Lev." Ever since Aleksandr had found out Leo's name, he seemed intent on calling him only by his birth name. Leo didn't dislike it though, at all. It made him feel claimed by his mate.

Leo wanted to reciprocate the gesture but the little amount of knowledge he had regarding mates and being in touch with his human side, made him a little wary of strangers. He decided to call Aleksandr by his birth name, Sasha, once he had gotten to him a little better. It was a strong name that seemed to suit Aleksandr's personality, Lev thought. Being an Alpha, the name that meant defender or helper seemed to harmonize with him as a leader.

What he heard next made his mind go completely blank, however.

"But it's good that you have a strong base and knowledge of the native language. It'll come in handy when we move to Mologa, since many people there still converse only in the old language."

"Wait...What?!"

Leo was sure he had heard wrong. "Move to Mologa? The Mologa that's approximately 270 km from the here and takes about 4 hours to reach by car on a good day with ideal weather conditions and no heavy traffic? That  Mologa?"

His mate merely raised an eyebrow and responded, "Da, moy lyubimyy."

It took Leo a minute to realize that Aleksandr had just called him his love

A minute where he completely forgot what he was arguing about and could not stop the blood flowing to his face and making him blush like a tomato.

Aleksandr's smiled like the cat that ate the canary, seeming extremely happy and satisfied, seeing Leo's blush.

That made Leo snap his mind back to the moment and he stated, "No no no no no. Nyet, Neyt, I am not moving."
