It's not like Aleksandr hadn't dated before. He had gone on his fair share of dates and been asked out frequently. However, he had quickly lost interest after the few initial teenage years. The faces of the people he was going out with had started blending into each other and the conversation always became extremely repetitive sooner rather than later. Going out with someone in a romantic capacity had become dull, boring and quite frankly, a tedious task.
So, just a couple years after he had turned twenty, he had stopped. Stopped trying to go out on dates. Stopped trying to meet someone. Rarely though, Aleksandr let himself go out with the guys from the pack to some club they would insist on going. However, even there he would mostly just keep an eye on things, ignore the flirtations coming his way and just be the designated driver.
Even though alcohol didn't affect wolves in the same manner as it did humans, it still slowed down the reflexes of a wolf if taken in extensive amount. Considering the amount of alcohol Aleksandr's packmates drank when they let loose, it was extensive amount and they needed someone sober behind the wheel. So that's what Aleksandr used to do, be the responsible Alpha who preferred his own company instead of requiring someone else's misguided and misplaced interest.
All that had changed that fated day in the supermarket though.
Aleksandr had managed to find someone for himself whose face he had a hard time forgetting, whose eyes he ended up getting lost in, whose voice he could listen to for hours and whose scent he could inhale and snuggle with for days.
Needless to say, Aleksandr had never found anyone who had been half as intriguing and challenging as Leo, something he had realized on the first day itself when he had chased him to his apartment.
Because, of-fucking course, his mate had ran away from him as soon as Aleksandr had found him.
Just like right now.
His mate had given him the slip yet again and Aleksandr just stood there, stunned. In the clearing in front of his damn pack and his mate's friends. As an Alpha, he should have been offended.
Instead Aleksandr let out a laugh, which just sounded like a big exhale from the wolf's mouth and immediately followed after his mate. Looks like his mate wanted to play.
Leo was the only one he had encountered in his entire life who had openly challenged him by running away instead of handing over his submission on a silver platter like all others. His Lev was so unlike others and always ended up surprising him. Ever since Aleksandr had first met him, in that damn dairy aisle buying yogurt. Leo's challenge, quite frankly, was turn-on for Aleksandr. It showed how perfect Leo was for him, someone who was not afraid of him, who refused to take Aleksandr's crap and forged his own way, someone who demanded to be his equal in his every way and challenged him to be better.
Soon, he had caught up with Leo, being larger and faster than his mate. He glanced to his right at the smaller form of his mate, snow white fur in stark contrast with his own black mane and tackled him without a second thought. They ended up rolling over each other but soon Aleksandr had his mate pinned underneath him.
He rubbed himself all over Leo to scent mark him as Aleksandr's while Leo let out a whine when Aleksandr used his tongue to lick Leo all over.
Instantly Leo shifted back to his human form and blue-grey eyes shined at Aleksandr. Aleksandr felt himself shift back. But Leo wasn't happy with him.
"Don't scent mark me, I hate you!" snapped Leo.
Aleksandr's eyebrows pulled together in frown, "What?"
"You heard me. How dare you disappear and ghost me for a week and then just chase me to ground only to scent mark me without even a word?" thundered Leo, without an ounce of fear.
