It was 12 AM, Wednesday had woken up Mayhem to investigate something she had seen in the day. Mayhem was in her black silk pjs, with her zombie bunny slippers. Wednesday has told her to change but Mayhem's remark was a grumble as she got out of bed.

" Wednesday, can a girl just get some fucking sleep." Mayhem mumbled as the two girls walked the empty corridors for the school.

"So what exactly is it that you saw?" Mayhem asked as the two stopped in front to the Edgar Allan Poe Statue.

"Underneath his book, it has the symbol." Wednesday said as she shed light on the statue.

"God Addams, I'll never get to sleep." Mayhem said as she shuffled to the statue.

"Poe did always love his riddles." Mayhem said as she looked at the words carved on the book.

The two girls spend the next three minutes breaking down the riddles to find the answer, SNAP TWICE.

The statue then retracted from the wall, exposing a staircase leading down. The two girls slowly walked down the stairs, Mayhem judged all the portraits that ran along side the staircase.
"God that is one ghastly mustache, pretty sure it winked at me."

Once the girls were down the two searched for the book from Wednesday's vision.

Just as they found the book, the two turned to leave only to have a bag placed over their heads.

After five minutes the two were bagged and tied.

The situation reminded Mayhem of Houdini, and boy did she love the game.

After moments of quiet murmurs and shuffling around, the bags over the two girls were removed. Mayhem removed the rope around her wrist but kept her arms behind, she didn't want to frighten her captor, at least not yet any ways.

"Who dares breach our inner sanctum?"

Mayhem laughed. "Good God."

"You can take the mask off, Bianca." Wednesday said.

A huff of annoyance leaves Bianca as she removes her hood and takes off her mask.

The rest of the teens followed, most of them were sirens, some familiar faces, yet the one face that caught Mayhem off guard was Xavier.

"How did you get down here?" He asked.

"Rowan showed me. Left pocket." Wednesday said, before Xavier walked over and removed the paper from Wednesday pocket.

" She tracked the watermark to the Poe statue. Then we solved the riddle." Mayhem yawned.

"Wait, there's a riddle? I thought we just snapped twice."

"Well, aren't you the brightest in the bunch?" Wednesday said, Mayhem laughed but tried her best to conceal it.

"The Nightshades are an elite social club. Emphasis on elite."

"We have roof parties, campouts, the occasional midnight skinny-dip."

"And Yoko's an amateur mixologist."

"She makes a killer virgin mojito. It can get pretty wild."

"Wow. Aren't you a wild bunch? Last we heard, the Nightshades had been disbanded." Mayhem said.

"Yeah, the group kind of lost its charter 30 years ago after some normie kid died." Xavier replied.

"But we have a lot of wealthy alumni, so Weems looks the other way as long as nobody makes any waves." Yoko explained smiling.

"Someone like Rowan?" Wednesday asked

"We booted that loser last semester. Question is, what are we gonna do with her? Only members are allowed in this library." Bianca said glaring at Mayhem and Wednesday.

"I say we invite them to pledge. They are a legacy." Xavier said, taking a moment to look at Mayhem.

"After the crap they pulled in the Poe Cup, there's no way in hell. We talk about not making waves? They're a whole tsunami."

"Please, you're just mad, we played your game better than you. Let me save you the trouble. We're not interested in joining." Mayhem stated.

"You're seriously turning us down?" Bianca asked, unable to fathom Mayhem's response.

"Can you believe it?" Wednesday mocked.

"Untie her." Bianca ordered only for Wednesday and Mayhem to show them the untied rope.

"We've been free this whole time." Wednesday said before snatching the ripped page from Xavier.

"Bye." Mayhem mumbled, lightly toughing Xavier's shoulder as she passed.

"Do you want a matching black eye?" Wednesday said, glaring at Kent as he blocked their way.

Kent backed down and the two girls walked up the stairs, but not before Wednesday said a few words.

"It's amateurs like you who give kidnapping a bad name."

"Alright, let's go Addams. I want rest." Mayhem said pushing Wednesday up the stairs.
Xavier scoffed in disbelief, her didn't understand why Mayhem declined, but her reject cut him deep.

The next day was Outreach Day, Xavier and Mayhem had yet to speak, both unsure of what to say.

All the Nevermore students stood in the quad awaiting their assignments for the day, "All students will report for their volunteer jobs at 10:00 a.m. sharp, followed by a community lunch at 1:00. As you know, this year Outreach Day culminates in a very special event, the dedication of a new memorial statue in the town square, which will also include performances by Nevermore students. As representatives of our school, I trust you will all put your best face forward." Weems announced, students cheering at the announcements.

Mayhem and Wednesday received their assignments with discontent.
"I got a place called Uriah's heap. Jeez"

"I got the Weathervane." Wednesday said as Enid skipped with glee.

"Yes! I got Pilgrim World. I have natural people skills and a love of performing, so it's kind of the obvi choice. I'm crossing my claws Ajax and I will be outreaching together." Enid smiled as she looked over to the goofy gorgon, before skipping off again.

Headmaster Weems approached the girls, a bright grin on her face, "Wednesday, don't worry about your cello. I'll have it brought to the town square this afternoon. And Mayhem I have already prepped the floor for you to dance at the town square, We just need you to take your outfit."

"My cello?"

"My outfit?"

"I caught your rooftop performance the other night. Impressive. Wednesday, I volunteered you to accompany the Jericho High School marching band at the ceremony. I'm sure it won't be too challenging to play an uplifting Fleetwood Mac melody. And Miss Dugrey I have requested that the band play a rendition of the Nutcracker. Oh I do hope you know it?"

"Unfortunately, I'm well acquainted with the dance." Mayhem said, stunting a very fake smile.
