I should have known this would happen. It was too easy, too perfect.

Atari has two guards come in to take us down to the holding cells at the very bottom of the manor, dragging us ruthlessly without a care in the world.

I'm surprised Atari didn't just kill me on the spot. I suppose she gets more pleasure out of watching us suffer.

"No...this can't be happening!" the spirit shrieks from next to me, trying to pull against the guards grip.

I'm not bothering with any protest. Even if I manage to escape from these guards, there isn't a chance I'll make it out of here. Knowing my luck, I'll bump into a Noble who isn't interested in helping me out.

"Of course it's happening. You betrayed me," I hiss back, nearly falling straight onto my face as my foot bumps under a rug.

"I had to. I couldn't keep living like I was."

I grit my teeth, trying not to let my anger overcome me. "You weren't living. That's the point. And now, many Demon's are going to die and so are you."

"I thought if I came to life, I could find another way to get out of this..." she tells me desperately, trying to grab the banister next to us as we are dragged unceremoniously down the stairs.

"Don't lie to me." I'm not sure why I'm bothering talking to her. She's ruined everything, and part of me would rather kill her than talk to her any longer.

We make it to the lower level, where two cells are. The guards chose the larger of the two and usher us in.

My eyes cast up, seeing a figure slumped against the wall.

"Keo?" I call our hoarsely.

He looks up, watching calmly as the guards chain us to the wall in a similar fashion to him. When I look at those chains around his wrists, it's clear they are enchanting with some kind of magic, otherwise he would be far gone by now.

He smirks despite himself. "The one and only."

Other than a small gash on his head that leaks black blood, he looks fine. I've never seen him this messy though, with his dark strands hanging down over his eyes, his clothing unkempt.

"What are you doing down here?" I growl once the guards having closed to door behind them, locking it shut.

"I could ask you the same thing," he says sardonically, narrowing his eyes on the spirit.

Shifting uncomfortably, trying not to wince at the metal biting into my wrists. How long is Aspen going to keep us down here?

"The spirit I thought I trusted lied to me. Now, my magic has brought her alive, and she is to be used in the spell to kill us all," I tell him solemnly, glaring at the spirit, who pitifully cowers against the wall.

Keo rolls his eyes. "What a surprise."

I sigh through my nose. He encouraged me to do this, although now I bet he's regretting taking that stance. It's what he gets for not caring about anyone other than himself and his Demon friends.

"How did you get in here?"

"Atari nearly killed my friend. She successfully lured me in," he mutters, tilting his head back against the wall.

He doesn't sound frustrated that he was caught...he sounds more sad. He knows he's caught, and that there aren't many people out there that are capable of getting us out of here in time.
