Y'all knew that this one was coming. Yep. It's a Christmas chapter. Just felt like the right thing to do. And once again, we're going back in time 7 years. Let's get to it.

Also: just a quick FYI in case it wasn't already obvious: Christmas in this chapter takes place right after the Halloween chapter. So about a month and a half timeskip.

Also x 2: Even though I've never really established an actual date on the story or anything, I'm just going to go ahead and say that, for the sake of stuffs, this chapter (and prologues parts 1 and 2, and the halloween chapter) takes place in 2014. Meaning that the main chapters are currently unfolding in 2021. That way when we get to the time around the seven goodbyes arc, it'll be 2022.

Also x 3: Even though The chapter takes place around Christmas, it wound up not being overly Christmas-themed like I had originally planned it. I ended up going with a different idea. It's now more along the lines of establishing connections with the quints.

Also x 4: this chapter turned out to be waaaaaaaaaaaaay longer than I meant it to be. Sorry not sorry.

On a cold winter's evening, a 10 year old Y/N found himself without much to do. Granted, he was currently enjoying the company of five extremely beautiful girls (who were all joined with him on his sofa, all huddled underneath an oversized blanket, and were basically using him as a heat emitter). Unfortunately, due to the fact that his plans for the day had been dashed by a freak snowstorm that had bombarded their area, it left the young man with a sense of a lack of accomplishment, something Y/N hated.

The only task he had managed to even somewhat accomplish that day, was the task he was currently working on: trying to retie the strings of his baseball mitt, which were very worn. Sure, he could have easily gone out and bought a new one at any time; he had the money to do so.

However, this particular glove had great sentimental value to him due to the fact that it was the first glove he was ever able to buy on his own, without the aid of anyone else (namely his parents). He refused use any of the money his parents gave him for his living allowance (which was quite a lot as is, but they saw baseball as a waste of time) and took it upon himself to do small jobs in the surrounding neighborhood to make a little extra money to buy the glove he wanted. Due to this, he was quite reluctant to part with it and did whatever he could to try to prolong the life of the glove.

Unbeknownst to Y/N, there were five pairs of eyes carefully watching him doing his work, rather than watching the TV. After watching him mouth a couple swears, Nino finally decided to speak up. "Hey, pottymouth" she said. "That mitt has clearly seen better days. Ever think of saving yourself the headache of trying to fix it and just buying a new glove?"
