When she woke up, Chloe put on a light purple button up and pulled on a tight black spaghetti strap dress over top. She stepped into her black combat boots and sighed, tying her hair up into a ponytail. Only two parts of her plan had been finished: taking control of her powers and breaking up Xavier and Bianca, even though she was not the one who broke them up. She still had to observe the boy and make him fall in love with her. Her plan was taking too long, her father would be disappointed with her if she didn't finish before mid-semester.

She was walking towards her door heading to her French class, she was skipping classes in favor of finishing her mission and sadly Xavier wasn't taking French. She suddenly had an idea and paused, "I can just combine the two parts! What was that called?"

She placed her hand on the door nob and opened the door, still talking to herself, "Lust told me it was something mortals 'do', or maybe it was 'have'?"

She kept talking to herself, a habit she picked up in Hell, as she walked through the hallway, kids moved out of the way when they saw her. Once she reached her classroom, she had given herself a headache trying to remember what the deadly sin had told her. She rubbed her head as she sat down in the closest desk to the door.

A short boy came in and sat down next to her. She was confused because there must have been rumors going around due to her unrestrained actions the day before; why would someone want to be close to someone who would kill them with a miniscule movement?

"Why are you sitting there?" She asked through her pounding headache.

"Oh, were you saving it for a friend?" the boy asked, showing a small rod of metal in front of his teeth when he talked, evidence of the retainer he wore.

"No, I don't have 'friends'." She spoke.

Her eyes widened, friends, that was what Lust had told her about, a friends to lovers trope and they date and fall in love! Chloe's mouth twitched into small smile, her headache fading with satisfaction.

"Well, I can be your friend." The boy offered.

"No! Why would I want to become lovers with you?"

The boy pushed his glasses farther up on his nose bridge and stifled a chuckle, "You don't have to date your friends. Where did you hear that?"

Chloe turned to him confident but confused, "Lust told me. Now explain."

"Well, it's possible for you to go from friends to lovers if you like your friend in that way but other than that, your friends will stay your friends. There is no requirement."

"Well, if you insist, then yes, you can be my friend."

"Awesome. My name is Eugene Ottinger and I already know your name."

She looked at him with a questioning gaze, forgetting that there were rumors about her floating around the school, but, a brunette woman, holding a pile of binders in her arms, walked in before she could say anything.

"Bonjour, classe." She spoke.

"Bonjour, Madame." The students responded.

"I have an announcement today, so everyone has to listen. "

Chloe's father had told her to listen when other people speak because it is a sign of respect and you can always tell if someone is lying based on the way they speak, verbal and non-verbal. Remembering this, Chloe sat up straight and listened to the teacher.

"There have been some bear attacks recently in the woods, so all of the students are forbidden from going into the woods until further notice. Please direct any of your questions to Principle Weems."

Eugene whined as the woman started her lesson.

"What is it?" Chloe whispered to her new friend.

Eugene explained, "I can't go bug-hunting in the forest anymore."

"Oh. I'm afraid I can't do anything to help you. Bugs are not in my area of expertise."

Actually, the only animals that Chloe had seen were souls in Asphodel Meadows¹. She wasn't able to see a live animal when she went running because most living animals and insects could detect her aura and would run the opposite way once they sensed her.

"It's okay. It's not your fault." Eugene sighed and turned to listen to the teacher go on about French grammar.

1) The Asphodel Meadows is a section of the ancient Greek underworld where ordinary souls are sent to live after death.

When the class ended, Eugene invited her to visit his club, a bee keeping club called the Nevermore Hummers. On the way, Chloe informed him that the bees would most likely fly away from her because of all the time she spent in Hell. He just waved it off and told her that she would always be welcome at 'the hive' and she wouldn't need a bee-keeper suit if the bees wouldn't come near her.

They arrived at a shed with a bee on the front and Eugene started to speak.

"Bees are nature's perfect community. All working together to achieve a common goal. And It's one of the few ecosystems in which females dominate. From the queen bees to her workers, there's no patriarchy in the hive!" He said enthusiastically.

"Bees are quite like the outcasts, a queen and her people, together protecting each other from a common enemy." Chloe said as her face remained relaxed.

"A queen?," Eugene asked, "who?"

Chloe looked at him, "Me, I am the queen of outcasts, the one who will lead my father's kin to safety."

"Wow, that sounds stressful."

"In due time."

Chloe listened to Eugene talk about the wonders of bees and how 'awesome' they are. All while Eugene was fascinated watching the bees fly around Chloe, never coming close to her.
