That night, Chloe snuck into Xavier's shed, unlocking the chain with a hairpin: one of the many skills she picked up from watching American TV. Chloe figured he would be finishing his raven mural in the quad because he was a prideful person and his mural was in public for everyone to see.
She pulled on the string connected to the light and started to walk around the shed as she examined the multiple pencil drawings of his psychic dreams. Chloe froze when she noticed a painted canvas, an oil painting of herself. The painting presented her in purple and black, there was a stoic figure of herself from the hips up, then, inside of her abdomen was a white jellyfish with a curled-up ball of herself in its squishy top. The jellyfish's tentacles were spread out across her stoic face and reached to the top of the canvas.
She could hear someone playing a string instrument loudly, which added to the confusion Chloe felt. She moved on from the painting. However, the next painting was another one of herself. This time, in the painting, she was in color while black flames encased her. Chloe shook her head as she broke from her daze. "Why is Xavier painting me? Is it his visions? But the first one wouldn't make sense. And why is someone playing music this loud at night? I thought mortals hated getting woken up?"
She turned off the light, left the shed, and locked it, heading back to her dorm room to brainstorm.
Her conclusion: Xavier is going crazy and
Chloe kept on going through her routine when the Harvest Festival came around. She heard that attendance was mandatory in passing, so, like any other good student, she went.
