My eyes fluttered open as the bright light from outside came streaming through the back door. I rolled onto my side and let out a huff seeing the time on the clock in the kitchen knowing damn well I won't be able to get back to sleep again. I decided it was probably best to just get up now and make use of the day then lounging around being lazy as usual. I clambered upstairs into my room being careful to not wake up my parents and shut the door behind me, walking over to my wardrobe. I made the decision to go running as I hadn't been in a while and I needed to lose a couple of pounds. I grabbed a pair of tracksuit bottoms and my Nike sports bra and grey hoodie before heading to the bathroom to change.

I headed for the door after leaving a note for my parents and plugged in my headphones shutting the door behind me. As I walked out into the road I noticed instead of the usual shade of light blue the sky should be at this time it was a darker almost black kind of grey. It looked as if a storm was approaching but then I remembered there was nothing in the weather forecast about this. I shrugged it off and started a slow jog up to the hill towards the woods hoping no one was in there this time of morning. I reached the gate into the field after about 5 minutes and shimmied round the side of the gate. I started to run a bit quicker into the woods  as I tapped on some songs on my phone. I reached a split in the paths quickly deciding to turn left not even knowing where this led to.

After about 15 minutes silently jogging though endless forest pathways, I felt slight drops of rain on my forehead which made me look up noticing the sky was still a dark grey color which definitely  wasn't right. I raised my hand to my forehead touching the drops of rain before bringing it back down where my eyes widened seeing the rain was in fact black. The atmosphere also didn't have the 'before the rain' smell that it usually did. I was completely frozen to the spot when I remembered what the article on my laptop had said:

"Colored rain"

If I wasn't sure about the end of the world before I definitely was now. I bet the fact the sun hadn't come out today was something to do with this as well. I turned around and sprinted the way I'd just come from not even giving it a second thought. I jumped over the gate at the end of the field nearly slipping off because of all the rain and continued to bolt down the road back to the house. When I reached the house I caught a glimpse of Ashton sat on his porch reading something on his phone intently but being in the rush I was I went straight past him ignoring all his calls for me. I barged past my parents and went straight to my room slamming the door.

I don't even know why I'm acting like this I mean when have I ever believed in the world possibly ending. Was this karma? Was it the universe getting back at me for not believing in it before? I jumper when I heard slight banging on the balcony door immediately recognizing where that was coming from. I stood up grabbing onto the wall for support and walked over to the door pulling it open. I saw Ashton's familiar figure under the Apple tree in the garden like before. He smiled at me before climbing up the trelice and jumping over the railings. He pulled me into a bear hug, my nose filling with the scent of his cologne which I loved so much. His hand ran through my hair stroking it gently before resting on the small of my back. We stayed hugging like this for a moment before he pulled away.

"Are you okay? You seemed pretty worried and preoccupied with something earlier" he said. "Yeah I'm fine I just wanted to get back home I was a bit tired that's all." I didn't feel a slight bit of remorse lying to him. "That's such a lie! I'm not stupid trust me" he responded. I didn't want to tell him the real reason why I was so worried. I didn't want him thinking I was anymore weirder then he already thought. "It is nothing though I swear Ash!" I said, my voice a bit more sterner. . "If you say so." He spoke softly before placing a kiss on the end of my nose, his hands on the side of my face.

"So what do you want to do today then?" he said after a while. "I was hoping we could just stay in and watch some movies if that's okay. I don't really feel like going out not with the way the weathers being today." I said whilst walking over to plug in the lights that trailed around the ceiling as we needed the light considering it was still almost completely pitch black outside. "I know it's terrible out there! And it's kind of weird how it's all dark like that. It's not normal." he said. I replied with a grunt and plopped down onto the bed as no matter how hard I tried to get these thoughts out of my mind it wasn't working. I then felt the bed dip as he sat behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist pulling me backwards onto his lap. We sat in silence for quite a while but it was a comfortable silence. Ashton suddenly stood up and made his way over to the TV and put in some random DVD from the shelf.  He resumed  his position with me on his lap for the rest of the day watching pointless films.
