By the time Friday came round, we had began writing to our pen pals. We simply sent all of the letters to their school, not their personal homes. I was, yet again, beside Kendall for our English lesson. "OK, girls, I am passing around some coloured sheets of paper. I want you all to write your letter to your pen pal now," our teacher said as the bundle of pastel colored paper was slid onto my side of the desk. I selected an A4 sheet of baby blue stationary and began writing with my black biro pen. "Dear Zack," I started. "My name is Maddie Ziegler and I'm your new pen pal! I love to dance and perform. My favourite style is ballet. My favorite colour is purple and I have one cat and a dog. Tell me about yourself! What do you like to do?

Yours sincerely, Madison Nicole Ziegler :)" I folded the sheet in half and followed the clump of students to the top of the room to retrieve an envelope. I snatched a pale one and slipped my letter inside just as I sat down once again. After sketching on Zack Torres in beautiful calligraphy, I proceeded to handing it up to Mrs. Lynch, who stored them in a paper bag, probably posting them off after school. Kendall appeared beside me and nudged my elbow, giving me the eyebrows. "You know, Zack is quite good looking, even if I'm not friends with him anymore. Maybe these scribbled notes are just the start for you two." I raised one eyebrow as my one and only Bro chuckled to herself.

A week later, I anxiously awaited the end of geography; the start of English. I hastened out of classroom G26 and scurried up to A19. Visiting my locker was unnecessary as I already had my essential books. My eyes scanned the half empty classroom as I strolled in. The Twinnies were giggling and chatting away in the corner. You know, the Twinnies and Bros were nothing alike. Paige and Chloe preferred to stay in the corner and just do their own thing, attention unwanted. The Bros? Kendall and I always sat up front and center, nearly making as much noise as possible to get noticed, but not in a snobby popular girl kind of way. It was just who we were. All four of us were great friends, though. "Hey, Kendall K!" I greeted, taking my usual seat. "Oh, hi, Maddawg!" She smiled. "I think the replies for our letters have come. Mrs. Lynch has a stack of envelopes on her desk!" I jerked my head up to my teacher's large wooden table before us, only to spy a large pile of letters being held together with a stringy elastic band. I turned back to my friend and nodded in agreement. Then, Mrs. Lynch came power-walking into the room and we began our lesson. We were told that we would read our replies at the end of class. Great, a whole hour to go.
