Yet another week of boring school passed on. I think I was the only one who used to take the risk of cutting through the empty canteen (that nobody was supposed to be in) to get to my locker quicker after geography, in order to get to English faster. I couldn't wait to hear Zack's reply! That is, if they had come. I flung half the books from my bag into my locker and slammed the door closed, making more noise than intended. After locking it up safely, I set off to English heartedly. As anticipated, there was a stack of envelopes placed on Mrs. Lynch's desk, the exact same size as the last delivery of replies. The entire class awaited our young teacher to make an appearance in the room before bombarding her with questions as of when we could unseal our letters. "You may open them now. We will be spending the whole class writing our letters to them as they should begin to get longer." We went through the process of passing round the envelopes and finding our own. I slipped mine out of the stack and ripped it open, under 0the instructions of my teacher of course. A few scribbled words were on the pastel pink paper. It looked as if Zack rushed this letter. Oh well! It read,
"Dear ballerina,
Yes, I have competed with a solo before. I've competed with a solo, duet, trio, small group and regular group. I don't mean to brag, but I won all of them 😏. I bet you're quite the dancer yourself, I've heard the ALDC creates stars. I really enjoy writing to you, Maddie! You sound like a lot of fun! I'd love to meet you sometime. From Zack xx"
Two kisses?! Ok, no biggie. "Hmm, pink paper, eh?" Kendall teased. "It looks like more of a love letter than a pen pal one." I didn't like what Kendall was implying one bit.
The bundle of paper was passed round as usual and I chose a sheet of pastel purple paper. I began writing."Dear Zack,
Awh, thank you! You sound lots of fun too! And yes, we should meet up and hang out sometime! I could meet you at Chips And Chicks at midday on Sunday in two weeks if you like (since I know you have to receive and reply to this letter)? I hope to see you there, Hip-hopboy.Love Maddie xx"
Yep, I risked signing off with love! Chips And Chicks was a fish and chips place in the middle of town. All the waitresses served the food on roller skates! It was my favourite restaurant ever to eat at. Now, I just had to pull up the courage to actually go and meet him. Fear and nerves bounced around inside of me as the thoughts of Zack's opinion came to mind.
What if he doesn't like me?
What if he doesn't like the way I look or dress?
What if I'm too short?
What if-I stopped the flowing questions there. I was going to hang out with Zack. And I was going to have fun.
