Our replies came exactly on time. I marched into the English classroom and took my seat beside Miss Vertes. I opened my mouth to say something, but I got a feeling that Kendall wasn't in a very chatty mood. I gently tapped her right shoulder and as her head jerked up, I gave her an are you ok? look. She sighed before answering with, "No, I have a major headache and my stomach feels like a tornado, swirling around like crazy." I nodded and embraced her in a bear hug, attempting to calm her nerves. Mrs. Lynch came in five minutes late to class. 'Shoot...' I thought. 'Ten more minutes and I could've legally left." At least, that's what I'd heard. "Ok, girls, you all know the routine, go ahead and start passing around the letters." Mrs. Lynch handed Paige and Mackenzie the pile and it began to make its way round the room. I quickly shuffled through them to find mine. I pulled the seal of the found letter open and began to scan the scribbled words that were jotted down onto the, again, pastel pink paper.
"Dear ballerina,
Sure, I'd love to hang out on Sunday! I'll meet you outside Chips And Chicks and we'll just hang out around town, yeah? Can't wait to meet you! And, yes, I know you'll only get this letter on the Friday before we hang out, so don't worry about sending an immediate reply. How has your dancing been going? Good luck at your next competition! Ok, well, I have to go now, but I'll see you on Sunday!"
Love Zack xx"
I liked this whole pen pal system. I liked it a lot. I waited patiently for the stack of paper to arrive at our desk before selecting a sheet of peachy/orange coloured paper. I started writing with a sparkly silver pen this time.
"Dear hip-hopboy,
Thanks, my dancing has been great! How about yours? I'm so excited for hanging out with you, all of my friends are from dance. We should have a dance off sometime, to see who can think quicker on their feet 😉. Sorry that this letter is very short, I don't know what to say 🙈.
Love ballerina AKA Maddie xx"
I went to the top of the room to fetch an envelope, them being, not the usual brown, but an icing white colour. I carried it to my desk and sat down just as Kendall finished hers and mirrored my actions. I sketched on Zack's name in a fine-line pen and handed it to my teacher. She grinned mischievously as if to say I know what's up with you two. It kind of freaked me out.

"This is the part when I say I don't wanna, I'm stronger than I've been before!" My alarm rang through the air, sending Ariana's voice bouncing against the walls. My eyes batted open, excitement overtaking me. It was Sunday at last!
