The ride to the school was very nice, until the tragedy struck. Juliette rolled her window down and opened the sunroof to get the most out of the awesome weather.

Jules and Alex had the radio cranked up loud and listened to
Newsboys' songs. Their favorite was "Jesus Freak" and when that one came on they were a party in a car. Jules loved that song, and practically lived by it. Little did she and Alex know, though, that song could be her last moment.

Just a minute after the song ended, Alex looked at the clock. "Shoot, we're late."

"How long until we get to the school?" Asked Juliette.

"Probably five minutes. The game is starting right now," answered Alex.

"Okay, Well just try to hurry," said Juliette.

Alex did hurry. They took about three more minutes and they reached the last intersection before the school.

Alex looked both ways and could have sworn there wasn't a single vehicle around. Being in a hurry, he rolled through the stop sign. Just as he passed through they were t-boned by a pickup truck.

Juliette couldn't remember anything past the hit. She just remembered screaming as she saw the truck approaching her side. Once they were slammed she didn't remember anything until people started talking to her.

It hit her. "I'm in the hospital," Jules thought. "I must not be okay."

Jules started to panic. "Mom! Dad! Molli! Ash!" Jules wanted to scream, "Help me! What's going on? Am I okay?"

Jules got even more panicked when she thought about her boyfriend. "Alex! Where are you?" She wanted to call out. "Are you okay? Please tell me you're still there!"

"She's moving!" Jules heard someone say. She thought it was Molli. "She just moved her finger! Did anyone else see that?"

"I thought I saw something!" said another voice. It sounded like her dad. "Thank You, Lord!"

"Doctor!" Jules heard another voice exclaim. It was probably her mother. "Doctor! She moved! She moved her finger!"

Jules heard another set of feet shuffle in. A deep voice started speaking. "Ah, some finger movement, aye? Good news. Perhaps now would be a good time to run a test on how much brain activity she has. Things are looking up. It seems that either the brain activity continually increases or it decreases."

"Praise the Lord!" Praised Juliette's mother.

"Don't get too excited yet," said the doctor. "Although I think there is a much better chance of Juliette pulling through, you aren't completely out of the woods. It's still not certain that she'll be herself again, anyways."

"Huh?" Thought Jules. "I wouldn't be myself? I'm myself right now."

"So," Jules heard Molli ask while she was sniffling, "you think I'll never get my best friend back?"

"Come on, Molli," Jules wanted to say, "why are you saying this? You'll always have me. We're sisters for life."

"It's possible," said the doctor in response to Molli's question.

"If she pulls through, will we be able to speak with our daughter again?" Asked Juliette's mom as her voice quivered.

"It's hard to say right now, but there's a good chance that Juliette would be in a vegetative state. Right now, though, she's doing well for what I expected. I never expected there to be any movement, even though it was a small as a finger movement," explained the doctor.

There wasn't much more said, and the doctors began to run tests.
