First walked in Alex's sister. "Hey, Al." She wore a grave expression upon her face.
Next stepped in his mother. "Hi honey, how are you doing?"
"I'm okay, Mom," said Alex.
Then came in his dad. He didn't say a word, but just wore an expression of compassion and sympathy on his face.
"So, uh," said Alex, "what have you heard about Juliette?"
"Well," sighed Alex's mother, "all I know is she's unconscious with brain damage."
"Can we see her?" Asked Alex.
"Of course," said Alex's mother, "but you need to be released first. The doctor told me you could go here in a bit if you're feeling all right."
"I think we can sign you out now, actually," said his dad. "The doctor said when you're ready to go he's ready to release you."
"Well, let's go then," said Alex. "I want to see Juliette."
"Me too," chimed in his sister, Kaylee. Kaylee and Juliette always got along pretty well. She was actually about five years younger than the couple, though. She'd always looked up to Juliette and spoke highly of her.
"I'm so glad you're dating Jules," Kaylee would say. "She awesome. She's like, the bomb.com!"
Alex would laugh. "I'm glad you like her."
While Alex's parents went outside of the room to get Alex signed out, Kaylee waited with Alex in the room.
"It's okay, Al," said Kaylee.
"Huh?" Responded Alex.
"It's okay, the situation...God's got it," said Kaylee.
"I know, but it's my fault," said Alex. "I may have ruined the life of my dream girl, and it affects other people too, like her family and her close friends, and us."
"She might be okay, though," reassured Kaylee. "You never know. God can out miracles faster than a cheetah runs."
"Yeah," agreed Alex, "but I mean just because He can doesn't mean He will." They were both quiet for a minute. "I feel absolutely awful about this. If I would've been more cautious this wouldn't have happened, or it at least wouldn't have been my fault. And I hate that I did this to her. She doesn't deserve it."
"If God wants to take her home," said Kaylee as tears started to build up, "He's going to take her home. Unfortunately this is how it happened, but something had to happen. Remember- God doesn't allow bad things to happen without a greater good."
Alex nodded in understanding. "Yeah, thanks."
Momentarily the doctor and Alex's parents walked in to let them know that Alex was released and that in two minutes they would head out to see Juliette.
