It was only on occasion that Kiyoomi was called to Olympus. His kingdom being the Underworld, his 'older' brothers, Suguru, lord of the sky, and Yuji, lord of the sea, often forgot about his existence.
Kiyoomi was the 'youngest' of the three most powerful gods, the Big Three. He was the lord of the Underworld, and everything below the surface of the Earth. He was tall and muscular, with a broad build and deathly pale skin. His eyes were dark as emerald gems set into obsidian with the same piercing sharpness. His hair was an inky black mess of curls swept to one side, and dark like the realm of primordial goddess, Chaos, below the depths of Tartarus. Above his right eyebrow were two moles, resembling the bite of a snake and accentuating his sharp jaw and strong features. Stoic and aloof, the lord of the Underworld stalked into the throne room, dressed in a suit woven from the strings of Fate itself and dyed black in Mnemosyne, the Spring of Memory. His onyx bramble crown was placed meticulously on his head, and the lower half of his face was covered with an ebony and ivory mask made to resemble the jaws of a jackal - a symbol of death.
As he walked into the throne room on that fateful morning, he could tell that something was wrong.
All the gods were gathered there, and they all seemed equally agitated.
Wakatoshi, the usually stoic god of death, seemed to be heavily disturbed by something. Satori, god of victory, did not have his usual coy smile. Shoyo, god of the sun, looked gloomy and sad. Koutarou, god of the wild, seemed depressed. Tetsurou, god of love and desire, was uncharacteristically somber, and his husband, Kenma, god of the mortal soul, held a similar somber expression on his face. Tooru, god of love and beauty, seemed desperately worried as he clung onto Hajime, god of war, who looked angrier than usual. Motoya, the messenger god, looked as if his shoes might flap out of control any second. Michinari, god of rainbows, seemed crestfallen. Tobio, god of the moon, seemed angry in comparison to his usual impassive expression. Tadashi, god of stars, looked like he'd breakdown any second. Hitoka, goddess of the hearth, looked absolutely heartbroken. Keiji, god of wisdom, seemed disappointed. Yuu, god of the west wind, was shaking like a leaf while Ryunosuke, god of traps, held onto him, equally worried. Shinsuke, god of the harvest, seemed to be holding back tears as Aran, the blacksmith god of fire, held him close. Rintarou, god of the hunt, had an unusual look of vulnerability in his eyes. Eita, muse of music, looked like he was going to compose a symphony that would bring the world to tears. Kenjirou, god of medicine, was scowling deeply. Even the carefree Yuji, lord of the sea, looked disheartened and disappointed.
Multitudes of gods were gathered in the throne room, all of them radiating more negativity than the Fields of Asphodel and Punishment put together. However, only two caught Kiyoomi's attention.
Osamu, god of winter, had a brutal look of anger on his face as he glared up at Suguru, lord of the sky, who carelessly sat in his throne and yawned.
Suguru's snake-like eyes drifted to Kiyoomi and he smiled, "Ah, little brother, so nice of you to stop by for our meeting," he greeted with a sinister smile.
Kiyoomi furrowed his brows, "Get on with it, Suguru," he snapped.
Suguru rolled his eyes, "Cold as ever, I see," but he stood to address the room anyway.
"Some of you may know this already, since word spreads quickly here on Olympus, but Atsumu, the god of summer, has wronged me, and as punishment, he will no longer be allowed on Olympus or the surface world for the rest of his immortal life," he announced, and the room was filled with gasps.
"Ya bastard!" Shouted Osamu, the usually cold but calm god of winter, "Jus' 'cause he refused yer invitation to fuck him doesn't mean ya get to do this!!"
"Osamu!" Aran snapped, breaking his usual quiet composure, and Rintarou grabbed Osamu's arm before the god of winter could lash out.
"He is correct, though!" Shinsuke, the not-so ever-calm anymore, said in frustration, "Atsumu cannot be sent away! Do you have any idea how much this will upset the balance of the world's weather?!" He shouted, on the verge of tears.
The hall was filled with shouts of agreement and anger towards the lord of the sky.
"Silence!!" Suguru commanded, slamming his lightning bolt against the ground, and all the gods fell silent as told, "If you are done complaining, I would like to continue my announcement."
Suguru narrowed his eyes, waiting for any objections, and when none came, he continued, "He will reside in the Underworld for the rest of eternity."
This caught Kiyoomi's attention immediately. There was no way that Suguru was going to put him through that, right? Atsumu was known for being bubbly and lively, and that would destroy Kiyoomi's peace and quiet.
"Suguru, this will not be good for the Earth!" Bokuto tried, "It has already upset the balance with him being there for a mere day! If he stays for the rest of eternity..." His voice trailed off, but the rest of the gods knew what he was insinuating.
Kiyoomi visibly bristled. So that's why it had felt so oddly cold when he walked in... With the god of summer gone, the Earth was cooling rapidly.
Kiyoomi had never met the god of summer, simply because he had never found himself needing or wanting to visit the surface world.
Of course, he'd heard of the stories of his beauty from Motoya, who often visited him in his Underworld palace. Kiyoomi had laughed when Motoya had told him that the young god of summer had turned down his brother's request for his hand in marriage. Kiyoomi had been grateful of him when Wakatoshi informed him that he'd saved them from much extra work and stress by saving a mortal city from famine.
However, through all of the god of summer's endeavors, Kiyoomi had never once wished to meet him. Kiyoomi was quiet and liked spending his time alone in his palace of bones, and Atsumu was energetic and literally radiated warmth and kindness.
Kiyoomi furrowed his brows, quickly realizing that his quiet life in the Underworld was going to become very noisy and unbearable very soon.
