Entering her first class on carnivorous plants, Roselyn was anxious. She didn't see Wednesday immediately when she entered the room, the one person she knew was going to be there for certain. Scanning the aisles for free seats, she didn't notice a certain blonde boy to be there."Hey, there's a spare seat here, Roselyn," he smiled lightly to the girl. She was too relieved to see a friendly face to notice the souring look on Bianca Barclay's face. "There's an open spot on the desk next to you for Wednesday," he added with a sigh as said girl showed up next to the brunette, "That's if she can stand being even remotely close to an elitist snob." Roselyn's face was one of shock as she looked between the people next to her. She had no clue what happened, but the awkward tension was there.
The witch got a peek at Xavier's drawing of a spider. "Nice drawing," she complimented. He smiled towards his paper before somehow bringing the spider drawing to life. She squealed quietly in surprise as it slowly made its way towards her.
"I doubt Roselyn is impressed by your tricks, Mr. Thorpe."
He looked over at the girl, who was really trying her hardest not to show her fear of arachnids, smirking at her. "Admit it, you're a little impressed."
Suddenly, a pale hand thwacked the spider into swirls of charcoal dust, both of them looking up to meet the bored eyes of Wednesday Addams. Whilst everyone else laughed, Wednesday murmured how "Roselyn is scared of spiders."
The brunette felt so embarrassed that her secret phobia had been told to Xavier, who was just trying to be nice and show her a spider drawing.
"Well, girls, we're thrilled to have you join us on our journey into the world of carnivorous plants," Ms. Thornhill exclaimed.
"Now... who can tell us the name of this beauty?"
"Dendrophylax lindenii," Wednesday answered, not missing a beat as she spitted facts back to back with Bianca. While the girls verbally spat acid at each other, Roselyn felt very awkward sitting at the table between them. Noticing her lowered head and twirling her rings around her fingers, Xavier passed her a piece of paper. Gliding it over the table, it tapped her knuckle, making her look at him. He took his charcoal, drawing a smiley face on the paper. Raising his brows at her, she picked up his charcoal and started doodling things on the paper with him.
Class went by in a blur for Roselyn for the first time. Albeit drawing pathetically in comparison to him, the two kept each other entertained in between note-taking. It seemed ironic for her; she had her cat, Jiji, who was supposed to be good at calming her down, yet Xavier ability to ground her was unintentionally better. At least Jiji could have some time off to go hunt mice around the grounds instead of wasting his time consoling her. She felt so bad for him; she supposed all her emotional crises made him feel like their partnership was a chore. Hopefully things would seem less weird soon.

Once again, Enid and Roselyn were helping prepare for the Poe Cup. Wednesday came over, complaining about Weems' vulture tactics over the trouble-making girl.
"I have beekeeping this afternoon. I need you as decoy."
"Sorry. Two strikes. I'm busy, and bees totally creep me out," Enid shrugged nonchalantly.
Wednesday looked at the quiet brunette.
"Oh, I'm supposed to be helping Enid. Why don't you ask Thing?" She asked politely.
"She can't... because he's mad at her," Enid raised her brows smugly towards Wednesday.
"Why's he mad? He's the one who screwed up."
