By hanging out with JD a little more, it meant his soccer friends were always around. One of them, Zach, I thought was really nice. As soon as I started talking to him and liking him, we went on a date - my first outside of school date - but a month later I realized that he already had been talking to someone else. He even asked them to the Spring Formal dance.

I was completely devastated and it ruined the self-esteem that I was finally building back. Zach chose to start dating someone else and it completely destroyed the idea that I would ever be able to find someone. I stayed home and didn't attend the dance for many reasons, including this one. Deep down I knew that it was stupid to mope over a silly boy but I didn't see it that way. I saw Zach as someone that would actually appreciate me in their lives but all of that, that feeling was gone. He meant a lot to me without really getting to know him, but as a sophomore that was my first mistake. Maybe I wasn't even upset about Zach specifically, I just felt that I started to become everyone's second choice and I hated it.

Upon my arrival back to school, Larissa greeted me with a bizarre response, "OMG! Delilah! I'm so glad you're back!"

"Yeah. How was the dance and everything?"

"It was so great! It was so much fun, we had a lot of fun. Dancing and taking pictures. And Sasha and Zach made their outing and let's just say they look absolutely stunning together."

I quickly look down at my shoes to hide both the embarrassment and frustration that is forming on my face. Why would she say that after she knows what happened between Zach and I? Because she's just an awful person. It was at that moment that I no longer wanted to be her friend anymore. My emotions started coming out in anger, "Larissa. Why would you say that?"

"What? What do you mean?" She says absolutely dumbfounded.

"What do I mean? You know that Zach and I went on a date. You were the one that set it up. And you knew how heartbroken I was to hear that he didn't want to date me, so why would you be happy that they're together?"

"Because Sasha's my friend and I'm gonna be happy when she gets into a relationship."

"Have you forgotten that we were friends?"

"We are friends, Delilah."

"Are you sure about that cause I don't feel included in your friend group much anymore, and now I kind of know why." Before anything else starts, I walk away hopefully getting her to reminisce on what I've just told her.

Surprisingly, the next day she acted like that conversation never existed and she went back to how she usually was. She would talk to me vaguely but that was about all the interaction we had. Everything went back to normal but it created a lot of controversy for everyone. Larissa and I were having friendship problems. Larissa and JD were having relationship problems. The worst part was that JD and I were having issues.

He asked me a few days later, "Can you talk to her for me?"

"You want me to talk to Larissa for you. About your relationship."

"Yeah, you're her friend, you're my friend. I need you, Del."

"You do know that I almost bit her head off the other day when I was confronting her about our friendship? And-and what's been happening with y'all's relationship, that's worse and you expect me to talk to her. Calmly."

"There's nothing left that I can do to try and fix things, okay. I-I've tried talking to her but she doesn't want to have any serious conversations with me for the sake of our relationship. I know you and I know how good you are at these things, so I just need you to talk to her. Please," he sounds desperate towards the end but still manages to find some way to argue with me.
