Zed and Amelia were ecstatic to find out on that wide and early morning they were going to be a part of something unnatural, that is to join me and Calli to save Jean from whatever nightmare she was having. With my job description combined with their exposure to things unordinary, our combined efforts in saving a girl's life from her paralyzed state was far from sanity.
"You're really coming with? I pegged you as the type to not go into anything unless there's something in it that benefits you."
Zed just happened to fit that sort of description in my books but I suppose everyone had a hidden side to them in this world. There had to be an exception to everything, even to non-humans.
"It's more time to learn how master moves in situations like these. There's always benefits for every decision I make. The Earth's nice and all but issues here are so petty and unnecessarily complex it's not worth to listen to." There was his condescending personality on the spot. Had I known this was just a mask for him, I would've probably never disliked him as much. Only a little at the moment but he was pretty sociable.
Zed knew a thing or two about nocturnal dimensions and I'm glad he studied it religiously when he was in school. Information we received from him seemed like it helped to confirm Calli's. Amelia desired to test one of her new gadgets which was interesting to say the least. She was fascinated with the idea of cloning herself. She said they might help with becoming substitutes for absorbing damage from the dimension's dangers though they weren't accurately specified.
"There's a perpetrator for events like these. One behind the strings and all that." Zed said while Kiara had him in a headlock over their argument on sharing food this morning. "It exceeds medical theory and science. Spells to reverse your friend's condition should've done the trick but if it's quickly negated, it usually just means the culprit is more powerful than the two of you combined. That's why master told you it isn't normal. It exceeds common sense." He referred to Ollie and Kobo. "There are two ways to undo it. We have to enter your friend's nightmare and release her from whatever is holding her hostage or let her die then the dimension will cease to exist. Nocturnal dimensions aren't all that powerful and dangerous, they're just annoying."
"Basically, enter or leave it be..." I muttered. I didn't know Jean for a long time but I couldn't let her die. There was something in me that wouldn't allow it. I knew what it was like to almost send someone into that brink of state. Almost. Getting a human involved in matters unrelated and otherworldly to her felt like a huge concern for a fellow normie like me.
"I'm entering regardless of your decisions. It's too good an opportunity to pass up testing my invention." Amelia was highly intelligent but the shape of her inventions are just weird. This one looked like a protein powder container with 29 servings on it. "You and Calli were called by her in her sleep. Don't you think she liked the two of you from just a few conversations?"
"I did forget to mention the whispers one produces from sleep is related to the nocturnal dimension. In other words, your presence is imperative like a key for her to awaken." Zed mentioned.
Just another day in Hololive.
Calli sighed. "Hold off on that dunce hat, babe."
"We leave in ten minutes, prepare your things before heading out. I can't wait to test this baby out!" Ame excitedly pranced towards the door and into her room probably. Her giggles died out when I assumed she already crossed the far end of the halls.
"Kiara?" I felt Kiara's hand on my shoulder. It was warmer than usual.
"I need to talk to both you and Calli. Step out for a bit, Zed."
"What, why-"
"No questions, just leave!"
"You owe me a date-"
Kiara kicked his rear, propelling Zed's full figure to unintentionally bunny hop out the door.
She dusted her hands off her clothes. "Alright, now where was I... Oh yes, since I'll be staying behind to watch over Ina and Gura, you three should make sure Ame's not going overboard with her gizmos."
"She does have that tendency to this day, still..." Calli whispered.
"Something I should hear of?" I was trying to make sure I understood what was going on.
"Watson's pretty erratic. That one time she used her creation in the island did wonders but she sometimes loses control over her devices when she gets this excited." Looked as if this wasn't the first rodeo for these girls when it came to the detective's shenanigans.
Come to think of it, I hadn't really talked to Ame that much. Even Ina who seemed to be kind to everyone. I was focused on Calli and perhaps there weren't that many chances yet to bond with them. I had to make an effort besides these crazy adventures we have to get to know them more.
"That's why I want you to be careful. I've reminded her many times to cool down but she responds like a child throwing a tantrum when being told."
"Considering you're the youngest since your rebirth, I can't even call Watson the child of our group." Calli snickered.
"Quit it. I'll be a grandma when you're all gone."
