"Again, thanks for helping me yesterday!"
"What a coincidence. We meet again."
"I come here often to unwind hehe,"
I was in a café with Calli, revisiting our plans on how to divide and manage our schedule with her job as an idol and as a mentor for this novice reaper that would arrive later evening at 6pm. The blonde girl from yesterday happened to also be a regular customer at this fine establishment. Calli was wearing a black flutter-sleeve top with gothic floral patterns, checkered tube pants, and simple black sandals. As it was a work-day, I was in a gray suit and my hair was neatly combed back. My hair was beginning to grow longer and I didn't want to have it cut.
Remy's was a nice place for students to bunk in with their academic requirements. I don't think I've seen a whole lot of university students in one place until today. They were consumed by their gadgets, typical of the contemporary period. The barista at the front of the café worked his magic, putting on a display by preparing beverages in a circus-like manner for the female patrons on their headless stools. The place was comfortable to be in.
There were loads of books on the cabinet by the entrance in case anyone wanted to read. There were also board games like Chess and Scrabble so while Calli and I were formally discussing an important topic for half an hour, we were playing chess like idiots on the sidelines and having cheesecake for dessert.
The blonde girl who got her picture taken without her consent waved at me as a sign of acknowledgement. I nodded my head at her, visibly relaxing into the seat. She was in between us, beside our table.
"Since we meet again, this time in a place I'm used to... Do you mind if I join you guys?"
"I don't see a problem with that. Clay?"
"You're my boss. I have to agree with whatever you say."
"Where's your moral compass?" She lightly slapped the back of my head across the table. "What he originally means is you're alright sitting with us. Lemme grab you a chair for a second since my assistant has no manners-"
"I'll do it. I'll do it." Honestly, any one-on-one session with Calli is cherished a lot more than before. So, having someone intrude on that gets me acting like crap sometimes. Nonetheless, I quickly recover and realize not everything is supposed to be about me and my feelings. I place a chair in the middle, pulling it back for her to sit.
"Thank you," she said. I feel like the villain now since she's been nothing but nice so far. She held a hand to her chest, a warm smile on her lips. "I'm Jean. I'm currently a student of Silverleaf University! May I ask you both for your names?" Jean was wearing a pink jacket, jeans, and sneakers, her hair still in a bun.
Her personality took a complete 180 from yesterday's events. She was placed in a tough spot at the time so seeing her like this was nice.
"Call me Calli. This goof here happens to work for me. His name's Clay but you can forget about him if you wish."
We had a good mood earlier too...
"Clay, huh?" Jean looked at my face for a little too long before setting her sights back on Calli.
I narrow my eyes at Calli and change it later to a welcoming expression towards Jean. "It is nice to meet you, Jean. I apologize for earlier. My boss and I were discussing something that concerned business."
Jean waved her hands at me, maintaining her composure. "Respectable. Calli mentioned it was fine to sit here so I'll make sure I won't leave the image of being a disturbance in your heads after we depart from this table."
