Who Would Have Guessed?

Chapter 5: Crisis

Cameron

"Thank you so much" I said to my Uber driver as I got out of the car. I was going to Jayson's first official game of the season tonight. I was supposed to meet up with his mom so we could sit together. I walked into the arena and showed the security guard my ticket and pass.

"Okay you're in VIP. So, what you want to do is go down this hall to our right and keep walking until you spot a green room. That's where the friends and family usually gather. Make sure to put your pass on" the guard said motioning to his own neck. I nodded and put on my pass before following his directions. I quickly made my way down the hall and found the room. A bunch of the players' families were standing around chatting and having snacks. Brandy spotted me right away.

"Hey Hun!" She said cheerily.

"Hi!" I said sweetly and walked over to her. She opened her arms and wrapped me in a warm hug.

"I'm so glad you could make it!" She said holding my shoulders after she pulled away.

"Me too, I'm sorry I missed the pre-season games" I said. She waved her hand and made a face.

"Those wasn't nothing important, I'm glad you're here now. Deuce! Look who it is!" She said hollering at Deuce who was talking to a light skin man.

"Cameron!" Deuce yelled cheerily. I was so happy he remembered me, my heart melted.

"Hey Deuce!" I said squatting down as he ran over to give me a big hug.

"Are you going to sit with me?" He asked after pulling away. I nodded.

"Of course!" I said happily. He smiled and then the light skin man that was off to the side walked over.

"Cameron this is Tyson, he and Jayson have been friends since they were kids. Tyson this is Cameron" Brandy said.

"Nice to meet you" I said extending my hand, but he shook his head.

"We don't do that here" he said and gave me a quick hug.

"Lil bro can't keep ya name out his mouth. I see why now" he said and then chuckled. I giggled and then blushed. So, Jayson been talking about me.

"Alright since we're all here let's get seated" Brandy said and then grabbed Deuce's hand. I followed behind her with Tyson not far behind. We had courtside seats. Tyson sat next to Brandy and we sat with Deuce in between us.

"I want popcorn Grandma" Deuce said to Brandy.

"Okay baby give me a second" she replied. Tyson messed around on his phone most of the time while Brandy and I made basic conversation. She was really trying to get to know me which I loved. I wanted her to like me so bad.

"I could really use some pointers on taking the bar" I said. Her face lit up.

"I would love to help you hun! Here, let me give you my number" she said. We exchanged info and one of the waiters came back with our drinks and Deuce's popcorn. Soon after the lights dimmed, and they started introducing the players.

"Starting at Forward, number 0 Jaysooooon Tatuuuuummm!" The announcer said. Jayson was the last to come out. He did his cute little handshakes with his teammates before walking over to get in line for the national anthem.

After the anthem, the lights came back on, and Deuce was holding up a popcorn for me to eat.

"For me?" I asked. He nodded with a smile. I held my hand out and took it.

"Mmm this is pretty good Deuce" I said.

"Its my favorite" he said with his cute little voice. Soon after, Jayson walked over before the game started to give Deuce a hug. I took the popcorn from him and watched as they embraced. Jayson loved being a dad, you could just see it in the way he interacted with his son. He was his world. He bent down to give his mom a kiss on the cheek and dapped up Tyson before putting Deuce on the ground. He looked over at me and smiled.
