Ch. 24: Trust (III)

"So what brings you both in today?" Dr. Hampton asked the couple.

"Where do we start?" Cameron said.

"I'll start" Jayson said before explaining to Dr. Hampton how their relationship started, the breakup, and where they are now.

"I see. And how did you feel during the break up Jayson?" she asked.

"Ashamed. I could barely look myself in the mirror" Jayson said. 

"And you Cameron?"

"Depressed. I was so low, I hadn't felt that low since..."

"Cameron?" Dr. Hampton said hoping she would elaborate.

"Since I found out my ex was cheating when I went to get tested and he had given me a STD" Cam said. Jayson's brows raised in shock hearing this story for the first time.

"I assume you weren't aware of this" the doctor asked him. He shook his head.

"Not at all" he said before looking over at Cam in a sympathetic way. 

"Have you two discussed your childhoods, past relationships, and any types of trauma that could be triggering for either of you?" the doctor asked.

"I mean we've discussed our childhoods." Cam answered. 

"Past relationships?"

"Not really, we thought it was best if we didn't" Cam said.

"We?" Jayson said with furrowed brows.

"I never said that" he said.

"Well you never offered anything up" Cam rebutted. 

"You only ever asked about Michelle" he said.

"So its my fault?"

"Did I say that?!" Jayson retorted as he became irritated. 

"What are you writing down" he asked Dr. Hampton as he saw her pen moving back and forth quickly.

"Just some notes. Continue." Dr. Hampton said with a smile.

"Continue where?"

"Past relationships, so you've talked about Michelle which is who?"

"My son's mother"

"Ahh so of course that would be an obvious person to discuss. Are there any other exes of yours?" she asked Jayson.

"Yeah...three" Jayson mumbled. Cameron's face twisted as she tried to figure out who they all were. It was Ella, Bella, and who?

"Three?" Cam said.

"Yeah. You know about Ella. There was also Bella and Lisa" he said looking down at his shoes.

"I see, now what were the timelines here Jayson?" Dr. Hampton asked.

"Why does it matter?" He retorted.

"I'm just trying to get a full picture of who you are as it pertains to relationships" she said. Jayson sighed before looking over at Cam who was waiting for him to answer. He ran his hands down his leg before speaking.

"Michelle was my girlfriend in high school, when I went to college we broke up and I started dating Lisa and during our relationship, I cheated on her with Michelle and that's how my son was born. Couple years later, Ella and I started dating and I cheated on her with Bella. And then Bella and I broke up because.... I wasn't faithful to her either" he said. He couldn't bare to look over at Cameron whom he was sure was judging the hell out of him. Based on all this information, he was a certified cheater. Why would Cam ever trust him again?
