"Neal, darling, I need you to come here."
Seemingly out of thin air, Neal appeared at Scarlet's side, ready for her instruction. They were standing in the still-under-construction nursery of their newly acquired home.
"Can you hang these curtains on the window, instead of those black ones? I want the baby to have plenty of color in her room."
Neal nodded, taking from his wife a rolled up yellow curtain, and making his way to the large window facing Loch Ness. Scarlett watched as he, needing no ladder, reached up to the curtain rod and simply attached the new set with ease.
"I hope the baby is tall like you," Scarlett smiled, her cheeks growing rosy from the fond discussions of motherhood. Her baby belly was an awkward off set from her tiny figure, and she found herself using both hands to support it.
"I hope she gets your red hair," Neal laughed, his accent flaring up as he did so, "You still like 'Y/N' for the name?"
"I love 'Y/N' as a name," Scarlet smiled, sitting down in the nursery's rocking chair. The couple, American and British in origin, had moved to Scotland just weeks before in preparation from their child. They had agreed it had the conditions for such a baby, both of them unsure how their genetics would mix in a child. They were both outcasts with supernatural abilities, but quite different ones. They were also quite in love, and looking forward to raising the perfect child.

Y/N sat quietly at the foot of her father's grave, studying the tombstone. He had been dead almost five years now, and all that remained was a stone marker which said:
Neal Priest
Loving father and husband.
"Fangs and claws cut, but love heals all wounds."Y/N hated his tombstone. One worthless quote, and it barely meant anything. Her father was a man who lived a real life, and he deserved a real burial marker — not some stone slab with an arbitrary quote and a few carvings.
Y/N loved him, though. She missed him, too.
"Y/N!" She wiped her head away from the stone and towards the direction of her mother's voice.
