Inverness, Scotland
September, 2021*****
Y/N sat on her bed, surrounded by folded up piles of clothes that she carefully folded, one-by-one, as she packed her first trunk for Nevermore. Over the past month, she had carefully selected and accumulated clothing for her own, perfect school wardrobe. In her room, she had a series of stacks of everything she was to pack and bring to her new school -- dorm essentials and decor, school supplies, cosmetics, and of course, the overwhelming collection of books. She would be packing three full trunks today, and her backpack -- which would contain her laptop, journal, current book, and her daily and travel essentials.
As she packed, she felt her emotions swing back and forth between excitement and nervousness. This would be her first time -- outside a family reunion or her mother's social circle -- she would be surrounded by fellow outcasts. In fact, she had never met one within five years of her own age. Maybe there would even be one of her own kind.
"Hey sweetie?" Her mom shouted from downstairs.
"Yeah?"
"Do you want some tea?"
"Yeah!"
A few minutes later, Scarlett appeared with a gorgeous cup of amber-colored tea. Y/N knew immediately that it was earl grey (with two sugar cubes), but didn't know how she knew.
"Thanks, ma."
"How much longer until you're packed, you think?"
"Two hours, maybe... when's our flight tomorrow?" Y/N took a steep sip of tea, confirming her suspicion.
"The car is picking us up at 8 o'clock, so better be up and alive early," Scarlett smiled, leaving the room.
Y/N was right in her second suspicion as well, spending almost exactly two hours packing. She stacked the trunks by the door, sighing with the knowledge that she would have to take all three trunks downstairs in the morning.

Inverness Airport, Scotland
September, 2021*****
Y/N sat at her gate, holding only her backpack and an iced matcha latte (with extra matcha powder). Her mother had left her luggage next to Y/N, as Scarlett walked through the terminal looking for a neck pillow.
The plane ride would be twenty hours. Luckily, Y/N had always liked plane rides (mostly because her mother always got them first class tickets). She was also *that* girl -- at the moment, she was sporting baggy jeans, a fitted white long sleeved shirt, and a cozy white cardigan just in case it was cold on the plane. Her hair was pulled into a claw-clipped bun, and her nails were painted a soft pink. She played with the rings on her fingers as she waited for her mom to return.
The airport was stressful for her, as her mind processed every life force's movement. She was so hyper aware of everything happened everywhere around her that she felt an overwhelming dizziness, which she tried to discourage by reaching for her phone and scrolling through Pinterest.
"Darling, have they started boarding the plane yet?" Scarlett's voice chimed out as she approached the area Y/N was sat.
"No, not yet."
"Well, I bought us some snacks for the flight -- chips, candy, popcorn, fruit leather..." She listed, holding up a plastic grocery bag.
"Geez, nice. We're sitting next to each other?"
Before Scarlett could answer, the intercom came on and declared that boarding for their flight to Vermont would begin. The two went to the stewardess and showed her their tickets and passports, then made their way onto the plane and the seats in first class.
