today is the day. not just the bengals playing the chiefs. as of right now, it isn't a big rivalry or anything.
it is sort of a big game for the bengals. it will secure their spot in the playoffs. for the chiefs, it was just another game before the playoffs.
but, more importantly for kenzie, she would have to speak to joe burrow today. what if she doesn't even get the chance to talk to him?
if the game was at 4:25, when should she get there to talk to him? before or after the game?
she decided to talk to him before the game, she got there around 12. nobody was even there yet.
she waited around, for a while actually. bengals players slowly started to file on to the field. she scanned the group for joe, which would be easy to find. she didn't seem him yet.
she kept looking as more players walked on to the field. she looked towards the 50 yard line to try to see if he was there yet.
that's when she saw him, throwing the ball to one of his receivers, which kenzie didn't know who, she wasn't paying attention.
instead she took in a quick but deep breath. she actually could see why everyone talked about him the way they did.
his eyes, were like, the most beautiful shade of green kenzie has ever seen, like james dean almost.
she started walking down to the 50 yard line from her seat near the end zone. joe had noticed her almost right away and followed her with his eyes which made kenzie very self conscious about the way she walked.
"hi." kenzie said once she walked over to the quarterback. he was done on the field, so he had to look up to see her.
"hi?" joe responded confused. what was this random girl doing here? doors didn't even open yet.
"oh," kenzie said breaking the silence that felt very awkward to her. "i'm kenzie."
"kenzie..." joe responded waiting for a last name. who was this girl?
"kenzie kelce." she responded nodding her head.
"travis's sister?" joe asked tilting his head to the side.
"yep." she responded very shortly. of course he knew she was his sister, always living in travis' shadow.
"travis has a reputation, far too over protective. so, i don't think he would be too happy if we were having a conversation." joe said. he was right.
"i don't really care what travis thinks. he doesn't need to protect me like i'm a little kid or something." kenzie said. of course they were talking about her brother.
"well, i gotta get back to practice." joe said turning around.
"am i gonna get a name?" kenzie said. god did she regret that.
"you don't know it?" joe asked confused. "it's joe, joe burrow."
"i know, just wanted to bring down your ego a little bit." kenzie said with a smile.
"you are something else, kelce." joe said under his breath as he walked away.
kenzie immediately texted layla and izzy to tell them what she did. they obviously didn't believe her.
"kenzie!" travis yelled once the chiefs walked out onto the field. "what we're you doing talking to joe burrow?" as he said joe with disgust.
"i was just talking to him." kenzie said rolling her eyes.
