"What hospital are they at?"

"Regional," he confirmed. I got Niall and we drove to the hospital. This time I didn't care if I was seen. I ran into the front part, Niall tugging all the toys in a wagon.

"Excuse me? There's a girl here named Lila with breast cancer. She's around 12. Do you know her room?"

"You mean Lilac Davies? Age 11? Room 346." I bolted down to her room, and saw she was in the ICU. When I knocked on the door a woman with tear stained cheeks opened up.

"Yes?"

"Uh, is Lila in here?" She nodded her held, and tightly gripped her tissues. She opened the heavy door to show a small room with a bed in the middle and it was PACKED with little kids. Brad sat it the corner, his head buried in his arms. "Are you Lila?" I approached the bed. The girl in it was a deadly white. She had a few strands of hair, turned a deadly grey. She had incredibly skinny arms. All you saw was saggy skin with bones.

She kept her eyes closed and nodded lightly. "My name is Lila." Her voice was squeky and weak. She dropped her jaw slightly, and I watched as her flat chest rose up a tiny bit.

"I'm Piper. Piper Clark. This is my boyfriend Niall Horan." I saw Brad look up, and out of the corner of my eyes I saw his face. he had longer hair. He had a lot of tattoos for just a few days ago. Well then again he was wearing long sleeve shirt. He had changed his hair color to black. It hung low. He wiped his eyes and stood up straight.

The girl pushed a button on the bed that lifted her up. She lifted her head slightly and opened her eyes. They were green. A green that made me think of Harry. What if Harry was sick? I wouldn't be able to live with myself. Despite obviously being in pain, she smiled. "I love you!" She tried to sit up but couldn't. I ran up to her, and told her sit back down. Lila's mum pulled a chair over for me.

"That's the most she's talked in months," her mum said crying more. Brad came up and hugged her tightly.

"I know. Sh. I met your brother Brad at his work a couple of years ago. He was telling me all about you." I grabbed her hand and held it tightly. "I knew I'd have to see you sometime! Oh, anyway do you like Barbie dolls?" She barely nodded her head.

"She loves them," her mum whispered. She pushed Brad off lightly. "We couldn't ever get her any though. Between paying her chemo, and feeding the little ones." She glanced toward all the little kids sitting against the floor. I took a good look at the mum. She looked like she was a druggie. There were 5 other little boys and girls quietly looking down at the floor. They looked like a druggie person's baby. She had to be on drugs.

"That's good." I motioned Niall to come in with the wagon. I pulled it right up to the bed. I lifted everything to show her. She must have got 10x more happy. I looked at my clock. It was after 9. "I'm terribly sorry but I have to go." Niall took my hand in his. I began to get up but the fragile girl put her arms around my neck. I had no idea what she was doing, until I realized ... she was hugging me. She seemed just so more happier than before.

I walked with Niall outside and passed a nurses station. Before I got past a nurse stopped me. "Can you wait a minute ma'am? The doctor wants to speak with you." I turned around but no one was there.

"Me?"

"Yes you. You just came out of Lilac's room, right?" I nodded. "Wait one minute, I'll get him."

She showed us to a little conference room. I looked at Niall with a worried face. "Piper, what'd ya do?!" He squeezed my hand tighter.

"I don't know!" I exclaimed almost in tears.

"It's fine," Niall whispered rubbing my back. I pulled my chair closer to him, and cuddled into his shoulder. Soon a doctor came into the room and took a seat in front of me. I told Niall text Harry and tell him we were at the hospital visiting.

"Is anything wrong, doctor?" He hadn't said anything for half an hour. It was almost 10. I hadn't eaten anything ALL day. It wasn't the first time.

"Are you Lilac's mother?" He had a French accent. You don't see those every day.

"Oh, no. Her mum is in her room. With all her brothers and sisters." He nodded. He looked like an ordinary doctor.

"Just as I thought. Are you in any way related to Lilac? Or any of her brothers and sisters?" I shook my head. "Each of the children have a different father. Most of their fathers died. We're trying to get in touch with their families, or else each child except for the only one that is old enough to take care of himself, Bradford, I think. They are all being put in foster homes. Lilac will stop recieving chemo therapy since she has no family. Her mother was pronounced as a unstable parent. We talked with her and she said she's fine if they are taken away."

I looked down. Lila never did anything to the world. She didn't deserve this. I felt helpless. I couldn't do anything. I wondered what was different between the mum I saw recently and the mum who 'she's fine if they are taken away from her'. No child deserves this. "So whats happening to her family? Whats happening to Brad? The mum? Is Lila going to ... die?" I choked the last word out.

"Her whole family is being put up for adoption. Brad wasn't born here so he's being deported. The mum is going to jail for prostitution and the handling of narcotics. Lilac will most likely die with or without chemo. That's all, you may leave." He spoke to me as if I were a child. That night I went home, and cuddled into bed with Niall. I placed my forehead on his chest and thought. How could I do something about this. I was led back to one conclusion each time.
