[chapter 5]

Seeks pov:

I open my eye slowly, trying to regain my thoughts. I looked around, blinking away the tiredness. The library. I suddenly noticed that next to me, probably sleeping, was a tall meaty entity. My eye widened when I realized that Figure had came back during my rest and had fallen asleep right next to me. I felt my face become warm as he laid there, next to me. He were so cute... Wait, what..? What were I thinking! I just met him... I pushed the thought of him falling asleep next to me out of my head.

My heart almost beating out of my chest, I carefully tried to moved the sleeping entity off of my shoulder but he had awakened almost immediately, flashing upwards. He had noticed the fact that he were in fact next to me and Figure had seemed quite flustered. "Oh, Uh. Seek, I'm so sorry-" He quickly tried to apologize but it was obvious he was too embarrassed to be able to think properly.

"Its alright..." I replied as my hot face felt warmer as I noticed his hand were resting on my thigh, which he also realized and quickly took his hand off. Why was I feeling this flustered...? Figure averted his face in embarrassment. He stood up from the sofa, stumbling slightly. "I... I'm sorry Seek-" Figure tried apologizing again but I interrupted him, assuring him it were alright. After some moments of awkward silence, I stood up too.

"What should we do now?" I asked. He faced me, thinking for a moment. He shrugged after a moment or two of thinking. We stood in another awkward few seconds of silence which felt to go on for hours, especially after that embarrassing moment. My face became slightly warm again thinking about it. I looked at the taller meaty entity and realized it were tilting his head slightly, noticing something. "What's wrong?" I asked.

"Oh, I just noticed your heartbeat quickening again... are you okay?" He replied, he seemed kind of awkward due to the fact he hasn't had communication for years. I nodded, before realizing. "yeah. Just... y'know." I hope he knew what I meant, its hard to forget the situation we had just encountered. I did though appreciated the fact we were both awkward so that we didn't have to be too embarrassed. He turned his head away, navigating his way to its desk. I followed, assuming it were leading me without telling me.

It sat down on his chair and I sat down on the one I brought over. It were pure silent again, besides the rain. It were a silence not too awkward compared to the other moments of silence.

I liked sitting quietly in the library, the sound of the rain seemed to echo more due to the fact the library was large. I shut my eye, enjoying the sounds of the rain, thinking. I tried my hardest not to think of the situation we just had.

"Do you want to continue reading Fablehaven?" Asked figure after a moment. I agreed and he groped for the book around unorganized wooden desk, when his hand hit a book, he picked it up. It felt the spine of the book checking if it were the right book. He set the book down in front of him before opening to the page we left off, he started to read.

3rd person view:

For the rest of the day, Seek and Figure continued to read the book and discuss about the hotel. When the clock struck 8pm, Seek took Figure to the secret room in the hallway and let Figure go to sleep, while Seek sunk down into his room and tried to sleep. Not feeling any tired, he laid there in silence. Only the sound of very muffled rain and the clicking of the eyes on his walls that he often tuned out. He only thought about the situation him and the fleshy entity had. Every time Seek thought about it, the thought never felt embarrassing but more...

flattering...?

Seek didn't know the word, but he knew the feeling. His heart pulsed faster. He felt like there was butterflies in his stomach (if he had a stomach.) His hands were sweaty and he felt slightly nervous... if only he knew what the feeling was. The feeling he had around Figure. He didn't feel that way around anyone else besides Figure, and it were really weird since the feeling was around the entity he just met.

Seek shut his eye in hopes of falling asleep but all he thought about still were Figure. Seek thought he were cute and interesting but he couldn't bring himself to admit that he found Figure cute.

After a few moments Seek finally drifted off to sleep, and after that day in the library with Figure he continued to visit everyday and read Fablehaven after the hotel closed, the nervous and flustered feeling around Figure only grew stronger and stronger every day, Seek sometimes having hard times speaking to the entity without stuttering or messing up words. Every night Seek dreamed of Figure, not anything else. Seek also became heavily jealous when other entities would interact with the blind entity, he wasn't sure why either.

Seek felt confused, and trapped. He had nobody to talk to about his strong emotions, and that only made it worse. Every night he still thought back to when Figure fell asleep right next to Seek. He felt as if his life revolved around Figure. That his life depended on Figure. All Seek hoped for was that Figure felt the same feelings as him, only hiding it better.

Little did Seek know, Figure felt a similar way about the shorter entity. Figure didn't have anyone to talk to about the feeling either, but at least he knew what it was.

It were a crush.
