"Leave us." The red queen demanded and Helaena rose carefully, as she moved past the hatter keeping his gaze. The Knave was suspicious of the Hatter. But his interest in Helaena drew him away.

Knave followed closely behind Helaena. breathing down her neck. She tried to move past him, but he grabbed her wounded arm. Helaena cried out at the pain as he pushed her against the wall. That damn bandersnatch Helaena thought. This damn man.

"I like you, Um. I like them large." Knave declared leaning in to kiss her but Helaena wasnt about to let her first kiss be with this awful man.

"Get away from me!" Helaena demanded. She kicked him back, making a run for it.

"You must find Helaena, Knave. Without the Jabberwocky, my sister's followers will surely rise against me." The red queen declared bitterly as she looked over the moat of skulls Helaena had jumped across to get to the palace. "My ugly little sister...why do they adore her and not me?"

"I cannot fathom it. You are far superior in all ways." Knave lied, he hated the queen but he wanted the power the crown could give him.

"I know. But Mirana can make anyone fall in love with her: men, women, even the furniture." The red queen grumbled.

"Even the King." Knave remarked. The red queens dark, bitter gaze traveled down to the grim moat below.

"I had to do it. He would have left me." She remarked staring at the kings skull floating around the moat with the others.

"Majesty, isn't it better to be feared than loved?"

"I'm not certain anymore. Oh, let her have the rabble! I don't need them. I have you." She leaned into Knave happily and he held back a gag of distaste. "I do have you, don't I, Knave?" He managed a forced smile, but gave her no reply.

The Hatter hummed as he worked with ribbons, bows, veils and feathers. Helaena entered the room full of huge, colorful hats. He went crazy making hats and Helaena chuckled looking around at his beautiful creations.

"They're wonderful! You must let me try one on." Helaena remarked happily. He put a hat on her. She posed like a proper lady. She put one on him. He posed like a proper lady too and Helaena laughed out never feeling more free than when she was with hatter.

"It's good to be working at my trade again." Hatter agreed.

"And it's just a pity you had to make them for her." Helaena added softly.

Realizing what he's done, Hatter was suddenly filled with remorse and self-recrimination. Hatter slumped as well before looking around. He got caught up in the craft that he forgot his purpose and his mission, his queen.

"What's the hatter with me?" Hatter declared slapping at his head over and over again. "The hatter with me... whats the hatter- Mmmmm." He grumbled out as fury filled him. He took scissors and murderously attacked a hat, cutting it to shreds, then another and another. Hatter started tearing apart the room.

"Stop! Stop!" Helaena begged. She took his face in her hands, forcing him to look at her. "Hatter!" Looking into his eyes, she can see the fear in them. "Hatter..." she whispered resting her forehead against his.

"Have you any idea why a raven is like a writing desk?" Hatter asked softly.

"What?" Helaena whispered as his hand went to waist.

"I'm frightened. I don't like it in here," he tapped a finger to his head ''terribly crowded. Have I gone mad?" She brought a hand to his forehead like Aemond had done so many years ago with her.

"I'm afraid so. You're entirely bonkers." Helaena remarked. "But I'll tell you a secret...all the best people are."

He straightened his shoulders with pride. His clothes puffed up as he looked to her.

"Oh, look! Here's another one." Helaena declared. She picked up his hat from behind a box. It's his very own Hightopp Hatter's hat. His eyes filled with tears of joy and pride to see it. She put it on his head proudly.

"That's better. You look yourself again." Helaena remarked. He was too overwhelmed to speak. He took it off and held it to his heart with gratitude.

"Hat Man! Where are my hats? I am not a patient monarch!" The red queen declared. Her screeching voice reminded him of his purpose. He looked to Helaena with complete clarity.

"I'm told she keeps the Vorpoal Sword hidden in the castle. Find it, Helaena. Take it to the White Queen. Help us make the world right again." Hatter declared. She glanced at the long thick chain from his ankle to the wall and considered another use for the sword, breaking him free.

"We'll go to the White Queen together." Helaena declared. He took her hand in his. There was a moment between them that might have been something more if it weren't for her large size.

"Why is it you're always too small or too tall?" Hatter questioned.

"I honestly ask myself that all the time." Helaena agreed wanting to kiss him but feeling too tall once again.
