Take Me Back pt. 5

-Kijuju, Africa/ 2009

The car bumped loudly against the dirt road, Chris at the helm of the military jeep he'd been given for the rest of the way to your destination. The town was just ahead as the sun blazed at the back of your neck through the thin glass window, feeling a slight burning sensation.

"You nervous?" Chris' deep voice lingered into your ears, causing you to turn and meet the side of his head.

"No," you lied, and he could tell. Stifling a laugh as he adjusted his hands on the steering wheel.

"You don't have to worry, F/n. I got your back," his words were reassuring seeing as you were here because Chris uncovered a bio weapons deal that was going to occur in the Kijuju Autonomous Zone.

"I know, this was just such short notice," after all the progress you'd made, Chris decided to have you join the BSAA, and join you did. You enjoyed your time working and training beside the tough man, always hoping to prove yourself.

"You did have a choice, F/n," Chris' voice drops as he speaks in a tone that causes you to panic.

"No no, I'm fine with the choice, just-" Chris begins laughing, eyes facing the road.

"No need to get worked up, I'm just messing with you," his eyes meet yours for a split second before meeting the road again.

"Why am I here, if you have a partner?" You inquire, wondering due to the fact that he didn't seem to need you.

"You're apart of Alpha squad, they'll be there as well, you're just.. coming along with me." Chris answers, never taking a look toward you. You accepted his answer, watching as the town began to pass you by, before the jeep comes to a stop.

You pull the handle, pushing the door open as Chris does the same, before moving to open the back seat door.

"Welcome to Africa," you turn your head to see a woman with beautiful brown skin, standing strong as she begins.

"My name is Sheva Alomar," Sheva reaches out her hand as Chris takes it.

"Chris Redfield," Chris turns his head, "and that over there is F/n Cadou," Sheva smiled in your direction, before her eyes turn back to meet Chris.

"Your reputation proceeds you Mr. Redfield, it's an honor," her reply was honest and mature.

"Just Chris, thanks," Chris let his hand hang down as they separate, "so you'll be accompanying us to the destination?" He inquires, waiting for Sheva to answer.

"Yes, tensions are running high ever since the change in government," Sheva replied.

"I'll bet, intel says it's a haven for terrorists now," Chris shifts his weight on his feet.

"And they're not going to be happy seeing two Americans," it was understandable, we looked and seemed like outsiders. "BSAA or not, that's why I'm your partner; help put them at ease." Chris smiles softly at Sheva's words.
