Danny waited awkwardly, with Edwards by his side outside of the room. The chair he sat on was slightly broken and moved every time he did, creaking loudly. He felt like he might be sick, all the scents and sounds combining into one awful mix. Edwards placed a hand on his thigh.

"It'll be okay. The baby and Clary will be fine. I'm sorry you were dragged into all this. But you're a good egg, okay? I promise I won't let it be too awkward." poor soul was clearly trying his best, which Danny very much appreciated. But the air felt thick around him.

Danny just nodded stiffly.

It seemed like an age before Samantha opened the door to the two. Danny peered in as far as he could without being noticed and saw an asleep Clary and Oscar's back.

"No complications, luckily. A healthy baby girl." She said with a smile on her face.

Edwards gave a small hoot and Danny a weak smile. A healthy baby girl, thank god for small mercies.

Danny didn't see Oscar for two days after that. Caught between being a father and all the leftover work of running the pack. He helped where he could in the kitchens and gardens (avoiding Clary's occasional walks) and looked after the pups, but a mixture of guilt, anxiety and confusion welled high in his chest.

It wasn't as if the alpha was avoiding him on purpose, but... seeing his mate with the woman who he once smelled of constantly was grating on him.

Which is why he was confused this time when he was brought into the Alpha's office.

Oscar immediately wrapped his arms around him, pulling him close to his chest. Large bags were under his eyes, and he looked oddly grey like he hadn't slept in days. His long hair was tied up in a bun and he smelled like Clary and someone entirely new.

The vampire sighed happily at the pressure, pulling the wolf in tighter.

"Oh, so you haven't forgotten about me?"

"Shut up tic," Oscar grumbled, before giving him a gentle kiss.

"Hey there love," Danny grinned. He pulled back a little to gaze at the wolf once more, wrapping his arms around his neck.

"Hello Danny" The wolf sighed, but his eyes were crinkled with humour.

"I feel like I'm dating my boss," the elder giggled.

"I'm not your alpha, remember?" Oscar chuffed. Danny giggled.

He gently untangled himself, pulling Danny's arm along with him. The vampire followed.

He stood in shock at what was before him. A small baby in a carved bassinet lay, sleeping gently. She was so little, far smaller than any person had any right to be. At the top of her head, a tuft of dark hair stood up straight, and all over her body, in that pale damp light, there was a fine downy hair that looked almost white.

"God she's... she's perfect, Oscar. What's her name?"

"Daisy"

*Have you and Clary decided on what you're going to do?"

He leant on the wolf gently, taking in his warmth and scent. It felt... right to be sitting there with him and a baby.

"She won't talk to me. She just... refuses. She's been leaving a lot to go, the moon knows where and I'm just... I'm struggling, Danny,"

"Go to bed, love. I've got her tonight."

"Are you sure? The milk is in the fridge and-"

"I know wolfy. To bed with you," the vampire smiled at the wolf.
