Amilia pov:
I was leaving today…
I didn't want to, I hated that I had too, but I must. I laid in bed longer than I should have, wallowing in my shame. As usual Azrael came in and flopped herself on me, cuddling me into her.
"It's New Year's eve. I'm gonna make it memorable." She sounded so excited. It was the day we're supposed to celebrate our anniversary together.
It was early but Azrael couldn't wait, she wanted to do it early and have it be something I'd never forget. I just felt like shit, I wouldn't be here, I would leave and never see her again.
"I'm sure you will Azy." Kissing her briefly I soak in her scent, burning it into my senses.
"Tonight we're gonna get dinner, watch the ball drop from the restaurant, then take the getaway. It's gonna be magical!" She gushed, tracing patterns on my skin.
"Do you think we should… arrive separately?" Her hand stopped, I could practically hear her thinking.
"Oh, like make it seem like it's a first date?" She craned her neck down to look at me. I nodded and she smiled.
"Sure. It'll be like going out for the first time again. Only less shopping and more romance." I giggled at the thought. I was rather rude to Azrael when we first started dating.
"Yeah, exactly."
We stayed like that for a while, aimlessly talking, more so Azrael than me. I listened to every word she said, absorbing as much time with her as I could. It only got later and later the longer we stayed and talked.
"Okay, we should get ready." She pulled me out of bed with her, lifting me into her arms.
"Separately remember." She pouted but agreed.
"Fine, it's not my fault I like being around my girlfriend so much." She set me down and removed her body from mine. Doing a little dance as she walked away from me.
She ended up going to Damiens to get ready, it gave me time to get my things together. Going to the closet I pulled out my suitcase and note. Setting it by the door and placing the note on the bed made me feel empty.
I had a bit of time before I needed to be at the restaurant so I cleaned up. Taking care of the mess around the house that we made. I cleaned out all my belongings and packed them into the new car she got me.
I drove it to Emily's place but didn't tell her, deciding drop it off in my old parking spot and just leave. Taking an Uber back I walked into the house again, the boys greeting me happily. I inspected everything before leaving, photos we hung up, souvenirs, every piece of memory that laid in this house.
I dressed myself in jeans, a shirt, boots, and a heavy coat to deal with the cold. The snow was heavy. I always loved snow, now it'll just remind me of her. It was 11 pm by the time i was ready to leave. I had 45 minutes to get to the restaurant.
I bought a ticket out of state, going to the west coast would be best. It would be far from here and far enough from my original home. I bought a new phone a couple days after Christmas, I didn't need her looking for me.
Time was almost up. I watched the loving messages come through from Azy, each one expressing how excited and happy she was. I wiped my eyes before the tears fell, trying to make my resolve stronger.
Getting up and having only a bit of time to leave I grab my suitcase and pocket my phones. Setting my key in the bowl by the entrance I gave a final look to the place that filled me with so many memories.
