(Y/N= Your Name)
[Y/N] had just finished dinner with their family. It was around 6 or 7 PM when they washed the dishes and went upstairs to play their brand new game, Splatoon 3. It was as usual, excitement in every battle. This time, it was in a third game! Others would ask them, "Would you really call excitement usual?"
[Y/N] always responded with, "Of course! If you love something so much, it'll never grow old on you! Or maybe it's just me."
That's exactly how they felt as they booted up the game. But immediately [Y/N] noticed something was off. When it was time for the Anarchy Splatcast, Shiver, Frye and Big Man were completely silent. They proceeded to press A through the non-existent dialogue (Knowing full well you can skip it) and said to themselves, "That's weird. Eh, must be a glitch. Nintendo's doing server maintenance soon anyway...at least I think."
[Y/N] proceeded to try to join matches, all to no avail because of connection errors. They tried to turn the game and switch off, reconnect, and try again, which bore no fruit. "Damn internet!" They yelled, "Daaaaad! The internet's out! I thought we were supposed to have a good router!"
Their father yelled back up the stairs, "It's working fine down here! I don't know what your Switch's problem is!"
[Y/N] checked their phone's connection. "It has a strong connection...and the service is good too. What is UP with Splatoon today?! First, Deep Cut is acting strange, and now no connection purely in game? Whatever, I'll just read some Coroika."
They had a beaming smile on their face as they reached for their beloved manga, Coroika (splatoon manga), which sat on a shelf next to their bed. But as soon as they eagerly opened their favorite book, an eerie surprise awaited them. The pages were BLANK. Well, all except for one. They flipped through 16 books nervously, until they saw the last page of book 16. It was all the characters looking directly at the reader. The reader was [Y/N]. They were all staring at [Y/N].
"What the hell?! I've had these books for so long now! They couldn't possibly be blank, I read them almost every day!" [Y/N] cried, "This can't be real!"
They were freaked out enough for one day. "I'm going to bed. I've been dizzy all week anyway, it might just be a hallucination."
They got into a pair of shorts and a tanktop, put their phone in their pocket, shut off the lights and crawled into bed at around 8:45, which was way early for the normal time they go to bed. They fell asleep quickly, but awakened at exactly 4:44 AM to their Switch lighting up...all by itself?!
"H-hey! Whoever you are, cut it out!! This isn't funny!! It's really freaking me out and I'm trying to sleep!" [Y/N] exclaimed, frightened.
The Switch shut off and [Y/N] eventually found themselves asleep again.
-7 hours later-
[Y/N] woke up groggily to someone poking them. They felt concrete on their back and heard ambient city noise, which was strange. "Nngh...leave me alone..." They said to the Inkling that was poking them.
Wait, an INKLING?!
"HUUUUH?!" [Y/N] and the Inkling blurted. The Inkling looked strangely familiar. When [Y/N] sat up, they saw that they were surrounded by...the Coroika cast?!
Everyone was gathered there to see a human that had just awoken after suddenly appearing out of nowhere on the street, sleeping soundly.
It didn't take long for [Y/N] to immediately feel a rush of excitement. "I'm...in...SPLATSVILLE?! Oh my god! I'm in Splatoon! And I'm surrounded by Coroika characters! This is such a wonderful-" They pinched themselves. "-Not a dream!" They got up and tried to talk to Goggles. "Hi!! My name's [Y/N]!! I've heard of you!! Wow!!" But all Goggles could respond with was, "Ʌrƒ ꜿꝋ𐰜 rƒʌιιꜿ ʌ ξ𐰜γᚢʌи?"
"Shit. They speak Inkling! How am I gonna translat- wait. I have an idea!" But before [Y/N] could take out their phone, Rider was holding his Dynamo and threatening them. "Wξꝋ トξƒ ξƒιι ʌrƒ ꜿꝋ𐰜 ʌиʋ wξʌト ʋꝋ ꜿꝋ𐰜 wʌиト w⌶トξ gꝋggιƒƨ?!" He demanded.
[Y/N] suddenly remembers they know Japanese. All Inklings are taught two languages...at least they thought. "This better work...待って!私はゴーグルを傷つけるためにここにいるのではありません!私はいい人間です!"
Rider responded in Japanese. "What is a human doing here in Splatsville?! You're clearly just an obsessive fan. Now SCRAM, before I-"
Specs interrupted him. "No, wait! How does a normal Inkling know Ancient English? That language died off tens of thousands of years ago! Let's give this so-called human a chance!"
[Y/N] started talking. "You're all in a manga series associated with a video game. I know the story of the very first battle between Rider and Goggles that no one else remembers! The one where Rider got pantsed for the first time!"
Rider said, embarrassed, "Don't recall that! That's in the past!" Aloha chuckled, "Not true! During the Stamp Rally, you were pansted years later in that very same spot." Rider was pissed. "Shut the fuck up!!" he said arrogantly.
"Manga? Video game? Huh?" Headphones said worriedly. "You must've had heatstroke and passed out. Poor thing! Besides, everyone heard about those battles on the news."
[Y/N] realized something. The Coroika cast isn't self-aware. They have no idea that they are lines of ink on paper, or strings of ones and zeroes in a massive pool of code. "I guess I did get heatstroke...Oh well." they sighed.
"Anyway, my name's Goggles! And this is Blue Team, Rider, and the S4! What's yours?" Goggles exclaimed.
"My name's [Y/N]. It's very nice to meet you! All of you!" [Y/N] said with a smile. "I don't know how or why I'm here, but I'm here."
