The Christmas Mermaid

Scene Thirty Two

(Drake can't stop thinking about what Esmeralda said about being banished forever from the ocean. Although she always wanted adventure he knew it wasn't right for him to get her in trouble for this. How could he let her take the fall for this, never let her see her family ever again. So he decides the best thing is for him to take it back while everyone is sleeping. While he goes downstairs, he was sure no one was behind him.)

(Esmeralda) "Wait, I want to go with you. I'm to blame too, I showed you the mirror. If you get in trouble I get in trouble."

(Drake) "Didn't you say you would get in trouble anyway. I'm not worried about me."

(Esmeralda) "Yes, but I could be the lookout, like they say two is better than one."

(Drake) "I guess it couldn't hurt. Plus you do read minds, and apparently listen to Taylor Swift."

(Esmeralda) "Who?"

(Drake) "She sings the song 'Two is Better than one'."

(Esmeralda looks at Drake confused.)

(Drake) "Nevermind."

(Esmeralda) "I read it off of a book."

(Drake) "So you like romances than, stories about love."

(Esmeralda) "I just dream about the stuff I don't have, and I want what my parents have, a love that doesn't die."

(Drake) "Anymore I'm not sure that exists. If so, it's just really hard to not let the love die."

(Esmeralda) "Are you talking about everyone or Ally?"

(Drake) "I guess both, well anyway let's take this back before someone notices it's missing."

(Esmeralda) "Yeah, because I think the mirror is listening to us."

(The mirror glows for a bit but when everyone is quiet the mirror quits glowing.)

(Drake) "Do you think someone is spying on us using the mirror?"

(Esmeralda) "I know they are, and I think I know exactly who it is."

(Drake) "You mean the one who started all this, who became mermaid and is why you are all here now. Se..."

(Esmeralda) "Shhhh!!"

(Drake) "What I learned it in history class? If there teaching it to us, it can't be bad to say can it?"

(Esmeralda whispers 'but if she is listening she can use your words against you. She's like that'. Drake thinks 'Lets go put this tattle teller away so we can have peace of mind.' Esmeralda shakes her head. Esmeralda and Drake rush too the Magic closet so no one sees them. When she unlocks the door, she sees a big merman meeting her gaze.)
