"Their ways, Esther, are not right!" Mikael shouted at his wife after bidding the Bennetts good evening. He's not happy with this arrangement. He'd much rather have Finn or Elijah marry Eboni, the eldest Bennett daughter. Why does it have to be Niklaus and Imani? Why marry the bastard off in their ways?

Their ways go against his Viking tradition. Their woman were bold, strong, many shield women. They did not fish and farm like them, instead opting to sacrifice the animals they held for work, using their bones as jewelry, their skin as coats, and meat for food. They did not worship the true gods. They had no Valhalla. They instead had some of Christian faith or other gods they thought better than Odin.

Esther shakes her head, "We need their power, Mikael. To protect our children. You remember Ayanna would not help us with Henrik? Well, with this betrothal, she will have no choice." She's already lost two children, she will not lose more.

"And you do not think they conspire against us?" Mikael asked his wife wary of the possible outcomes that this may have on them. "And what of Valhalla?"

Esther frowns, "There will be no Valhalla if they cannot die," she grabs her worried husbands face, rubbing away the lines on his forehead and kissing him softly, "they will be gods."

Suddenly, the Bennetts help did not seem so bad.

The thought that they'd be gods, kings to be worshipped by those around him, adoring him as Mikael The Great, and his children and wife to be rulers on their own, by his side.

They might not have Valhalla, but they can create their own.
