"So what do you want to say?" I asked her
"Our law firm will take on a high-profile case. Give this a read" she said placing tons of papers on the table
"Isn't this the I'm Yun Hui case?" I read the first page and saw some articles that is related to this issue
"It's the hottest case right now" I let out a big sigh "take the case and have it declared self defense" Ms. Yeon said smiling but I immediately declined
"I can't"
"What? Why not?" I saw how her face changed "you should be grateful for such a big case, not refuse it"
"It's not that. I just don't have the time. I'm currently working on a total of 32 cases"
"Still" I turned my head sideways and bit my inner cheek "you can't pass up on an opportunity like this" she added almost whining for me to take the case
"If that's the case, take it yourself. You're not exactly busy these days. You won't be asked on more TV shows anyway"
"Please don't bring that up" she said beacuse the TV show that she attended the other day didn't go well
"I'll be declining them anyway. It traumatised me mentally. I was only under the weather, but I got some malicious comments online"
'Did she eally passed the bar?'
'Did you see her tremble? Maybe she's not really a lawyer'
"I couldn't be more humiliated, so don't mention TV shows to me ever again" she said ranting
"Ms. Yeon, the-"
"Don't ever mention it again" she cutted me off
"The-"
"Stop it!"
"The sitting cushion" I pointed out
"This isn't what you sit on, it's a blanket" she said ang putting it on her lap
"Anyway, you're taking the case. It must be because you advocate public interest. The women's organisation specifically wants you in the case" I couldn't do anything but to take the case
"Read these and find any articles related to the case" I handed Attorney Park the paper for him to study on
"Sure" He said picking the first page and reading it "Oh I saw it on the news yesterday. Are you the lead attorney on this?" He asked
"Yes, so it seems"
"That's awesome. If someone as talented as you defend her, her claim of self defense will be proven"
"Do you think this was self defense?" I asked him
"I don't know yet since I haven't studied about it. However, it could be self defense because her husband beat her badly, so she reacted in the spur of the moment"
"It's not simple though. Also there are preconditions needed for this to have been self defense"
"In order for it to have been self defense, an attack must've been made against her or a third party. Also, that attack must have happened in front of her. Lastly, even if it were to protect herself, she shouldn't have used excessive force"
"Simply speaking, she can't have crossed the line even if it were to save herself"
"For instance, let's say someone slapped you, you can't retaliate with a weapon. The force used wasn't reasonable, so it isn't self defense" I explained furthermore
"There were many cases like this before, but the supreme court ruled against self defense. The prosecution will use that as precedence"
"Then you can set a new precedent by having it ruled as self defense" Attorney Park said
