Today was the day. You were going to take Zoro to get his stitches looked at and hopefully removed entirely. Law and he talked friendly for a while, but it didn't last too long when a nurse said his next patient arrived. The doctor sighed and looked at the unbandaged eye for a moment, touching the bruised skin lightly.
"You said it's just sore?" Zoro nods. "So when I do this-" Law runs his thumb over the stitches "-how does it feel?"
"Like tugging, but no pain," Zoro answers. Law gives a satisfied hum and clears his throat.
"So, to me, it looks great. Almost done healing. The only thing is, I need to take out the stitches for it to finish healing, or else the stitches will embed into your skin in the process. Are you wanting them out now?"
"Absolutely." The quick answer made both you and Law smirk. He was obviously going to want them out whether they were ready to come out or not. He claimed just that morning that they were itching a lot lately. Law gets to work, carefully removing stitch after stitch, the pulling sensation making Zoro grimace each time.
"All done," Law announces while tossing the last stitch into the pan beside him with the tweezers he used. "Now, keep it clean until the stitch dots heal. Don't be like Luffy and rip it open the first chance you get."
"Got it, Doc."
"See you later, Roronoa-ya." Law turns to leave, giving you a small nod for departure, to which you return.
"Ready?" You question softly. Zoro looked like an excited child that had just gotten the okay to go to an amusement park.
"Yeah," He grunts out. Either way, you knew he was thrilled to be stitch-free. As you both walked out to your car, you looked at the vehicle and stopped. "What's up?" He asks when the sound of your feet is no longer on his left.
"Wanna drive?"
"Huh?" He was shocked you even thought it was a choice for him to do so. "With one eye?"
"You gotta do it sooner or later, right?" You mention. He frowns, looking at his feet.
"I don't want to endanger you."
"You won't if it's my choice." He still doesn't lift his frown. "If you don't want to it's fine. I just thought you'd want to try, being a new man without stitches and all."
"Give me the keys." You knew damn well what you were doing. You were teasing him and making him want to do things out of spite. He snatched the dangling keys from your fingers and made his way to the passenger's side. You buckled in after him and he took a deep breath to calm his nerves before putting the vehicle in reverse. He used the backup camera and sideswipes of his head to be able to get a full idea of the cars behind him and then began slowly taking off.
He started off strong, driving really well and carefully. It actually surprised you how good he was doing. Then you realized it was because he was taking the backway home that he was so confident right now. You smiled at him and tried to avoid embarrassing him by pointing it out, turning out to look at the fields you passed on the way to your home. It got closer to your road and you could feel his tension radiating off of him.
"You're doing really well," You try to encourage.
"Sh," He immediately shushes you and it takes you back a bit. You held in the snicker you were wanting to release, knowing he was trying really hard to focus. You could see the house in view now and watched quietly as he stared straight ahead. The more you stared, though, the more he began to sweat. "Do you really have to watch me?" He pouted. This time, you didn't hold back your small laugh.
"I can't help it," You defend. "You just look so cute." He pouts while pulling into the driveway carefully and parking much more toward the middle of the lot than you would have. "See? You got us home fine!"
