I opened my eyes and groaned; the light from the window lit up the room. Rolling toward the wall, I attempted to go back to sleep. Sadly, I couldn't. The room was bright enough that I could see the sun from behind my eyelids.
Sighing, I opened my eyes and glanced around the room. Jack was in bed next to me, sleeping peacefully. Then I spotted the source of my problems, the blinds were angled so the light streamed in. I frowned, seriously!? I could have gotten more sleep!
Rolling out of bed, I shuffled over to the dresser and grabbed my phone to check the time. I was greeted with the lovely time of seven-ten. Really!? I was hoping to sleep in! Stupid sun!
Sighing, I placed my phone back down and went over to my bag. Not much I can do about it now, might as well get an early start. Pulling out some clothes and my travel bag, I slipped out of the room and headed to the shower.
As I cleaned off, I began to debate what I wanted for breakfast. I could make something. We brought eggs and pancake mix, but we also brought milk and cereal. Eh, I feel lazy. I'll eat cereal.
Once I finished, I turned off the water and stepped out. Grabbing my towel, I dried myself off and changed into my gray Blondie t-shirt and jean shorts. I collected my things and exited the bathroom.
Quietly dumping my stuff back in my bag, I grabbed my phone and headed to the kitchen. Setting my things down, I began scouring the cabinets for the cereal. In all honesty, I wasn't paying attention to where we put the food, so I have no idea where anything is.
As I searched the cabinets, I found everything except for the cereal! I know we brought it! Where is it!? I finally found the cereal boxes shoved in the back of a cabinet! Who put that there!? That's the worst place!
Shaking my head, I pulled out the box of strawberry 'Cheerios.' Putting my cereal together, I put up the box and went over to the table. Sitting down, I said a prayer and began to eat. As I ate, I began to look through my notifications. The first one was a suggestion from YouTube, I swiped that one away and checked the next one, it was Pinterest, I swiped it away.
I continued to scroll through my notifications, most of which were from apps until I got to one. A text from my sister Astrid, not long after I had gotten in the shower. Tapping on the notification, I read the message. "Did you get to the cabin safely?"
I smiled. Of course, she would check up on me. "Yep," I replied, "We arrived yesterday afternoon."
I didn't have to wait long before she responded, "Glad to hear! It would be a shame if I had to tell Jack that his uncle died in a car crash because of his reckless driving."
I almost choked on my cereal when I saw the last part of the message. Placing my spoon down, I quickly typed back my response, "I am a very good driver! Besides, if anyone had gotten us in an accident, it would have been Ella because she's the one who drove us!"
Astrid just sent a laughing crying face.
"It's not funny!" I texted.
"It is!" she replied, "The only people who get defensive about their driving skills are bad drivers!"
I groaned, "Did you know you can be annoying sometimes?"
"Yeah," Astrid replied, "You might have mentioned that once or twice before."
I smiled. "Good, I just had to remind you."
"What would I do without you?" She responded.
"I don't know," I replied, "Probably make horrible fashion choices."
Astrid sent another laughing crying face, "That is true, I would have died in high school if it wasn't for you."
