Miss Cuckoo had still not given anyone an explanation on her sudden visit, and you were starting to grow a tad bit angry. Alma had been to stressed to even try to sleep yesterday since she didn't know what was going on and had made all sorts of scenarios in her head. The night ended with the two of you just sitting on her bed you stroking her back until she fell asleep. Though after that you worried about her and had been awake all night. Literally. Waking up today you accidentally made a sandstorm instead of snow, worrying Alma deeply which you were too tired to notice. You had of course quickly fixed the mistake and had made it snow instead, but the incident has been noticed... as you all sat down for breakfast Miss Cuckoo opposite of you you accidentally zoned out. Suddenly fingers snapped in front of you and you snapped up sitting straight and eyes widened.
"I'm up!" You said a bit too quickly, earning a worried glance from Alma. Miss Cuckoo had been the one to bring you out of your trance, and you were now looking at her to say something. The woman sitting opposite of you gave you a misleading smile and opened her mouth to speak.
"So y/n is it?" She asked and you nodded with a polite smile. She smiled back and went to speak again, you hadn't noticed Alma being focused in on the conversation.
"So I understand your peculiarity is controlling the weather" she stated more than asked but you gave her a reassuring nod anyways.
"And you have been living in the loop for how long?" She asked making Alma's expression grow concerned, which you didn't notice in your own confusion.
"I've been with Al- Miss Peregrine and her wards for 4 years" you answered being quick to correct yourself. She nodded slowly making you nervous.
"And are you married" she asked making Alma choke on her food and you on your hot chocolate.
"I'm sorry" you said in between a cough, while gently patting Alma on the back. The woman caught her air as did you and you went to answer.
"No. No i'm not." You said ones trusting yourself to speak again. Alma was still holding a hand on her heart as she had after all just choked on her food. The other Ymbryne hummed seeming to think over her next words.
"But you have a nice one outside the loop i suppose then?" She asked making you slowly grow frustrated as your literal girlfriend was sitting right next to you.
"No." You answered simply going to take a bite of a pancake on your plate. She hummed again and Alma was too growing a bit frustrated.
"So no nice man just waiting to be married?" She asked again, this time enraging you. You didn't need a man!
"No i'm afraid not" you answered with a misleading smile.
"Oh. But i'm sure you've dated a lot of men in the past" she said. Your fists tightened under the table as she spoke on.
"You could always go back to them." It almost sounded like she was suggesting it. You chuckled out of anger which only Alma and some of the older children noticed. You hadn't paid attention to it but they had all stopped their conversation to listen to the three of you, probably sensing the tension.
"No." You answered trying to calm yourself as you went to cut a piece of your pancake off.
"So you didn't like any of your men?" She asked. This finally made you snap, as you shot up to stand hands on the table leaning in.
"I'M GAY FOR FUCKS SAKE!" You shouted at her leaving her stunned as Alma got up.
"Are you alright darling?" She asked slowly placing a hand on your back.
"No! In fact i am not." You said standing from you bent over position.
"This... homophobe, has no business here. And i will not be listening to her for days on end." You said your voice still raised. You felt Alma's talons digging in slightly making your gaze snap to her, as if she was hurt. Her face indeed did look pained but anger flushed over her features as well. She knew what you were talking about. Just then you realised what she'd been trying to signal to you. You'd just told everyone -un knowingly- that you were gay. You wouldn't have minded but you hadn't prepared for this. You blushed from embarrassment and excused yourself. You heard Alma getting scolded for your behaviour, which immediately made you turn around.
"I think you better leave." You said coldly starring down the older Ymbryne. She looked shocked and turned to Alma but she too was looking at you surprised.
"You will not stand there and call my-" you quickly checked with Alma and she gave you a nod of permission.
"Girlfriend! Incompetent!" You shouted at her making her stumble back a little.
"You what now- Alma no- this-" she was cut if by the younger Ymbryne turning around and cutting her of.
"I agree with y/n. I think it is best if you leave." She said pointing to the door. Miss Cuckoo walked out enraged to go and pack her things. You and Alma gave each other a smile of victory but then looked at the children, who stood with jaws dropped.
"I-" you said but then Emma started jumping up and down and they all ran over to hug Alma and you.
"I take it you have nothing against this then." Alam said and everyone laughed. You glanced over at Enoch still sitting down and eating he glanced at you and -to your grand surprise- gave you a smile and an approving nod.
