"Good morning pretty bird" you said when you woke up to Alma already taking in every bit of you.

"Good morning song bird" she replied while propping herself up on her one elbow. She pulled a strand of hair out of your face and then leaned in for a kiss, which you gladly returned.

"Aren't you exited?" You asked and to your surprise she looked at you with confusion plastered on her face.

"It's Christmas Eve! Birdie" you said exasperated, a smile soon enough appeared on her face and you knew she'd been kidding you.

"Oh, that's just mean!" You said tackling her and tickling her. The laugh you received made you atop immediately as you cracked one of your own.

"Are you ready to head down?" She asked at which she received an eager nod. The two of you got dressed the Ymbryne into an unusual outfit for her. A black high neck with navy blue details. It was a dress, with long sleeves and a loose skirt. It complimented her body so perfectly. You wore a black gown, with a split above the thigh. It was a soft yet light fabric and fell beautifully right above your angles just like Alma's did on her. The two of you slipped into heels and headed down. To your surprise she scooped you up into her arms when you were halfway down the staircase.

"Hey!" You laughed out as your arms shot around the woman's neck.

"Shh. You'll wake the children" she said chuckling then heading towards the kitchen.

"Alright so-" she started.

"Today we'll make eggs and white bread... with a lot of toppings of course." She added and you nodded getting the flour out of one of the cupboards.

"Do you have a specific recipe in mind?" You asked her as she got out a little tin box.

"Yes. One of an old friend..." she said trailing off. You knew she had many -female- friends who'd lived outside the loop, and were now dead so you didn't mind her trailing off into memories. You gently took the note she held stiffly in the air, and read it through. Though it seemed very... familiar. Actually you'd made this before with you-

"My grandma!" You exclaimed suddenly, making the woman snap out of her own trance.

"What dear?" She asked stepping closer and taking turning the not in your hands to read it through. She then looked up at you again seeming more confused than before.

"I- I've made these with my grandmother. It was her grandmas recipe..." you said slowly turning your head upwards, your eyes following shortly after.

"These were my great -great- grandmother." You said.

-a/n: i'm sorry i'm not smart enough to know if it's her great grandmother, or great-great grandmother, so yeah.-

She gave you a warm smile and you wiped away a small tear that dared to fall. Your memories with you grandmother,

-I don't even wanna know how often i just wrote grandmother-

Were a few of the best you've had. Your parents were alright, sure. But they weren't exactly great parents. Your grandmother had always taken care of you if they were out late, or came home drunk. A lot like Jakobs grandfather now that you thought about it.

"Are you alright darling?" Alma's voice suddenly asked snapping you out of your trance.

"Wha- yeah, yes of course. Let's get cooking!" You said with a smile. You were happy to be in touch with your grandmother in some way. Especially on Christmas Eve.

__________

"Come along everyone." You said. Alma and the older children would stay here to decorate the rest of the house while you would take the younger ones to find a Christmas tree. You went out to the garden waiting for everyone to get there. Like every year, you and Fiona had made a deal about her growing a tree somewhere in the garden and whoever found the tree, would get to pick their present first. Fiona didn't mind that it would, or could, never be her since she wasn't allowed to participate. After all she was the one growing the tree every year.

"Alright so remember the rules no teaming up, you're on your own." You said with a smile and then with a grand hand gesture, send them out.

"So, Fiona." You said looking at the girl.

"Yes?" She asked.

"What's your biggest Christmas wish?" You asked.

"I would really like some indigo seeds." She said, her eyes lighting up at the thought.

"Hmm" you hummed. Them ruffling up her hair.

"Let's hope you get some of those then." You said laughing. Then you heard what sounded like Hugh, shouting to say he'd found the tree. Several loud groans were heard and you headed over to the call.

"Great! We have a tree. Now go get Miss Peregrine. Oh, and the others can gather in the parlour!" You shouted after him as he was already headed in. You looked at Fiona and she rid the tree of all its roots making it fall to be picked up. Alma soon appeared in her coat and fluffy mittens making you chuckle slightly. Fiona laughed at the 'interaction' and you gave her a soft punch on the arm.

"Hey!" She laughed out and Alma came over with a fake-scolding look.

"Y/n! You can't go around hitting the children!" She said exasperated. You laughed and then helped her lift the tree inside, were it was placed in the parlour. The children of course all wanted to help decorate it, making you put on a vinyl, and start decorating with them all.

__________

"Supper is finished!" Alma shouted through the house. You put away the chess game you and Enoch had been playing, allowing the boy to run along with Olive who had passed the door. You put the game away and then went to the dining room, taking your usual seat beside Alma and Emma. Alma gave order to start eating and everyone did. You listened in in a few conversations, when suddenly noticing Millard and Hugh silently whispering and laughing while shooting looks your way. You gave Alma a light kick under the table and she looked at you confused.

"What is it?" She asked silently. You leaned in to whisper in her ear so no on would hear you other than her;

"Can you just -casually- listen in on what Hugh and Millard are having a party about over there." You said making the woman glance over with a subtle side eye. She nodded and went to drink something.

-Alma's POV-

I give y/n a small nod understanding her curiosity since they were clearly either talking about her, or me. Or both thinking of it... I glance their way to focus my hearing on them while going to take a sip of my water.

"Yeah, i bet Miss peregrine be eating out y/n than a chicken" I hear Millard say making me choke on my water. I immediately get up and speed walk to the kitchen while still coughing, to hide the blush creeping up my necks. I see y/n's concerned expression and see her get up right after me.

"Are you alright?" She asks coming over and place a hand on my back.

"I honestly do not know yet-" I say turning around. I seen her eyes widen in surprise from the radiant blush shining on my cheeks, whereafter i go to tell her what i 'accidentally' listened in on. She too now stands flustered and we both take a moment before returning.

"Mr, Nullings." I call out making his attention snap to me.

"Maybe you and Hugh, can find more appropriate topics for the dining table!" I simply but sternly say, as I see the two look away embarrassed.

"Hm" i hum as i sit back down placing a protective hand on y/n's thigh. 'I love you' I mouth. 'I love you too' she mouths back and I give her a kiss on the forehead happy to have her with us all.
