POV: Annabeth

No matter what your alarm in the morning is it will always be annoying.

I've tried putting a song as my alarm and I still want to throw my phone against the wall.

I've found that the most effective way to wake yourself up in the morning is to choose a sound that makes you want to get the hell out of your room.

Of course, it can backfire.

If you're especially tired you might just turn the alarm off which is exactly what happened today.

I hate being late.

I usually get up as soon as my alarm goes off, sometimes even before it does, but I went to bed at 2 am.

I wanted to kill my dad last night.

And because I'm a chicken, instead of yelling at my dad like I, oh, so desperately wanted to, I wrote everything in my journal.

My father doesn't have the right to interrogate my friends.

He lost that right when he sent me a happy birthday text two days after my 12th birthday.

I ran into Ms. Dodds' class one second before the bell rang.

I walked to my usual seat and looked around for Percy.

He's usually late, so I didn't think anything of it, but halfway through the period I got a text from him.

Whenever he's absent and I ask why he doesn't answer. All I know is that whenever he gets back he's either totally drained of life or beaten up.

I think that my little outing with Percy worked because Luke has been avoiding me. But so has Rachel.

Like I've said before we were never really that close.

Other than the the fact that we sometimes hang out with the same people we don't have much in common either.

As much as I don't like to show it I don't like it when people dislike me. And Rachel absolutely hates my guts.

I guess I can't really blame her, though.

Nobody ever really filled me in on what happened between her and Percy, but it had to have been bad for her to still not even look Percy in the eyes.

When we started this whole thing  I wasn't completely sure if Rachel would blame me for (fake) dating Percy. Especially after she threw away a much closer relationship with Calypso for him.

But I definitely never expected it to cause major problems.

Apparently Rachel refuses to hang out with us in a group and didn't invite me to 3 of her last parties.

She's been bad mouthing me to the whole friend group and everyone else at school.

The friend group doesn't believe anything she says about me, but still.

I've been trying to cut her some slack, though.

I'm sure she's feeling neglected and upset over the fact that right after she and Percy broke up she found out that he still was head over heels in love with Calypso and then started ''dating'' me.

I just didn't expect her to confront me during lunch.

Rachel stomps over to our table in the cafeteria and bangs her hands on the table.

"I'm tired of pretending everything is ok."

I'm mid bite when she comes up to me and I look up to see her hands on her hips and her face matching her hair color.
