"Care to tell me why my name sounds so ridiculous to you, bat boy."
Nyx raised an eyebrow, scoffing as he leans back in his seat. "It's just a stupid as hell name, who in his rightful mind desides to call their daughter Blue of all things." He points out, throwing Azriel a disbelieving look.
Blue huffs, shadows thickening as they swirled over the table, starting to cloud heavily around her shoulders. "That still is no explanation on why Blue is a stupid. And have you heard your own name? I would't even call my dogs that, it's just embarrassing." She says, earning a warning growl from the High Lord next to him.
She didn't understand what this boy's problem was. Did he have no freaking manners? Maybe she hadn't been the nicest either, but she was the prisoner here, right? She wasn't supposed to be all nice and formal to the people around her. Yet this thing deccided to march into the room like he owned the place, and the first thing he tells her is how stupid her name is.
"At least my parents stand besides me to tell you exactly why they love my name. Tell me Blue , where are your parents?" He asks, smirking as he leans back in his seat, spittung her name with pure venom. "Nyx." Feyre calls, shooting him a warning glare before turning to look at Blue.
The girl watches the bat in front of her for a few more seconds before she leans back as well. "You wanna know about my parents? My dad left when I was two, leaving my mom to care for me herself. She died a year after that from starvation and sickness." She spats, looking up as the shadowsinger tensed up besides her, visibly turning pale.
"Anything wrong? Can't stand to hear the stories, are you already that used to luxury that this surprises you?" Blue asks, her voice now dripping with venom as well. She didn't know where it was coming from either, but this boy was making her furious, more so then she should've probably let him.
Her shadows only got worse, murmering things she couldn't understand even a little bit. "Enough!" Rhysand calls out angrily, slamming his hands onto the table as he got up. "Nyx, get back to your room, we are having a talk about this later." He says, staring down at his son.
Nyx scoffed for the bundred time that day, standing up before looking down at Blue once again. "Well, ask them, ask them why the shadowsinger besides you has the exact same shadows, ask them why he tenses up the second he hears your mom had died. Ask him why he didn't say a single damn word this whole conversation. Surely he has his reasons." He points out.
Rhysand was furious now, and the male besides her had only turned paler at that point. Even her shadows seemed to still as she glances around the table, watching the people around her do everything in their power to keep their gaze away from her.
"Well?" Blue calls, narrowing her gaze as she continues to stare at them. She wanted to go home, she really did. The harsh words from the Illyrians or the cold looks they gave her were much better then the hellhole she stood in right now. Nyx laughs as he looks around them. "Surprise, Azriel is your dad, stupid." Nyx called before he was grabbed by Rhysand and dragged out of the room.
Blue looked after him, blood boiling as her eyes fell on the man besides her. "Well?" She asks once again, frowning at the silence that fell around her once again. She was barely able to think straight, watching the male who was supposed to be her so called dad, if that was even true in the first place.
"Fine." She spat, getting up from the table. "Take me home, I don't care who does the fucking job, but take me home." She says angrily. Feyre looked up at Azriel with a pained expression before nodding to Mor and cCassian. "Take her home." She says with a sigh, looking over Blue for a few more seconds before she walked off to find her mate and son.
This was ridiculous, how was the male besides her supposed to be the sad one when she was the one who's dad left her to die when she only just learned how to walk. "You know.." She says slowly, looking down at the shadowsinger, eyes shining with dissapointment. "She didn't deserve you. We were better off without you. You Illyrian males can't think further then their dicks, and once they see the consequencesof their actions, they're no where to be seen." She spat.
She watches as her so called father stood up slowly, Blue almost taking a step back at the rage and pain running through his eyes. He watches her for a few moments, his shadows starting to cloud up around them as well, before he turned and stormed off.
It was stupid, truly stupid. For years she had pushed the thoughts of her father to the side. Trying to ignore the fact her mom might be alive if he had been there, that she might still had her wings if he hadn't run off. But no, she grew up learning to survive on her own, and she honestly didn't care anymore.
At least that was until she found out her dad had lived the past few years in pure luxury while letting his family molt away. Her eyes fell on the huge amount of food besides her once more before she shook her head and walked off to get her own clothes and warm furs.
She glanced up as the general walked into the bedroom mere minutes later, her throat still locked up as she nods. She wanted to go home, not caring the amount of danger she'll bring herself in if she does. Grabbing her bag at last before walking after the bat and onto the balcony where Mor was already waiting.
She refused to look them in the eye, really not understanding where their anger towards her came from. She had known people talked bad about the night court, especially about their High Lord who had decided to whore himself away to Amarantha of all people. But she never thought much about it untill that very moment. They didn't care about the stories, they cared about each other even if they weren't in the right.
She tried not to tense as Cassian wrapped his arms around both her and Mor before they flew up. The world soon turned a black blur around her, and before she knew she was back in her camp at Windhaven. She let out a breath as she pulled away from Cassian and to where her tent used to be.
She froze in front of it upon seeing it ripped to the ground, her stuff damaged and stolen. Her mom's stuff had been among that, they had no right taking that away from her, had no fucking right to take away the only bit of shelter she had left either. "Good to see you back, whore."
Blue snarls, not having to turn around to know who was talking to her. "What do you want, Devlon."
So I did realise that Velaris was already outed to the world. Oops. But scratch that, let's act like that never happened for the sake of this story lmao. Also- sorry for the chaotic chapter, hope ya'll still like it!
