I've never broken my ribs before, so it might be inaccurate at some parts. I'll be comparing it to when I broke my back, and the symptoms on google instead.
Hope you enjoy! He was wrong about the pain, it definitely got worse. Moving was painful, standing up was painful, and breathing was painful. So here he was lying on his back in bed, trying to make himself as comfortable as possible.
Now he kind of regretted his previous decision. Past him should have just gone downstairs and asked. This wouldn't be happening if he wasn't so damn stupid. Of course it was going to get worse, what was he thinking?
Another wave of pain came, he scrunched up his eyebrows. Maybe he should just go down now and grit through this pain. His pain tolerance is quite high because of past stuff and after those occurrences he had to walk many times to the nurses office while injured. So, this shouldn't be much of a difference.
The only problem is where he can find some painkillers, which will probably be only solved by asking Valerie. Someone he doesn't want to talk to right now, but he guesses he'll just have to bear with it.
Placing both of his hands on the bed for support, he lifted himself up. Pain slightly increased and in response he inhaled deeply, getting a stinging sensation from his ribs. It wasn't too bad, but definitely not enjoyable.
When he started to walk though that's when the pain became much more noticeable. To the point that when he got to the door he had to take a break to decide on a plan. More specifically what to do with the pain since this was not going to work.
The problem was that each time he slightly turned his chest in any way or even breathed he would receive a zapping pain. He could definitely solve the chest turning problem by walking much more robotically, but breathing was the issue. You know, since he could not just not breathe. But technically he could just hold his breath.
He huffed in annoyance. Geez, why didn't he think of that sooner?
Stupid idiot....
Anyways, he should focus on the current problem at hand. Taking a deep breath he held it and then took a step trying to minimize his turning. This proceeded until he found himself halfway to the stairs taking a step. At that moment he let go of his breath, resulting in a bunch of pain to come in full force. He gasped at the sudden rush, and that's where he saw his foot land slightly off. Not too off that he would sprain his ankle or anything, but enough to make him fall. Which in this situation is one of the stupidest things to do.
SLAM! Pain spiked in his right side as he made impact with the wall.
"God fucking dammit, shit, ow." He muttered under his breath slowly sliding down the wall. After a while he fell onto his knees, and then onto his back with a small thud. Now he was lying in the hallway.
Ok, he kind of regretted this now.

He didn't know how long it had been, but it was getting really uncomfortable lying on the solid wooden floor. He tried getting back up sometime ago, but wasn't able to.
Why did he think this was a good idea? Why does he ever think his ideas are good ideas? God dammit, he groaned in annoyance.
....
On another note, this was getting really boring. The only thing that could get him off his mind was the pain, and it wasn't enjoyable at all. Maybe he should just shout for help. What's the worst thing that could happen? Probably Valerie beating the shit out of him for not acting appropriately, but like that's fine. It's not like he's never gotten injured or beaten the shit out of before. Now that he thinks about it how is his other injury going?
He lifted up his arm slightly, observing the cuts that were littered around his right arm. They seemed to start from his fingers, and make their way to his elbow. The bleeding had already stopped, he'll probably be as good as new in two days since he is a high-tier. Now that he looked in detail, this looked just like the injury from Arlo. Yep, Valerie is definitely related to that idiot.
Great. Guess the unbearable posh personality runs in the family.
Footsteps broke him from his thoughts and soon enough he saw Valerie looking over him. He had a sudden rush of relief that he didn't have to stay on the hard wooden floor for hours, but then embarrassment followed. Great, this was going to be hard to explain.
"John, what on earth are you doing on the floor?" She asked, looming over him. He caught his breath, trying to think of an explanation.
"Um, I broke my ribs and I got healed, but the ability doesn't get rid of the pain. So, I tried getting some painkillers to help but couldn't." He simplified. He moved his head slightly to see Valerie better, she seemed unfazed. What is wrong with this woman, she's been wearing that same expression since he came here. He took a breath in, "Do you have any painkillers?"
"Yes I do, would you like some?" She replied. He nodded slightly, making sure not to move too much. Taking his confirmation, she went away, probably to get the painkillers he asked for.
After a while he heard the same footsteps he heard minutes ago. Valerie set down a cup of water and tablets to the left of him. He felt himself being pulled up into a sitting position, and soon enough he had taken two tablets. Water being downed with them.
"Alright John, the reason I was looking for you was so that we could have dinner together. The pain will wear off in a few minutes, so we can go when you're feeling better. For now I'll put back the cup and tablets to their original spot." She said, leaving once again.
After a while the pain started to fade slowly, and soon enough he was able to get up. Guess he should just head over to the kitchen.

Dinner was annoying to say the least. After he arrived in the kitchen, he took a seat at the table. But apparently that was the wrong seat he was supposed to take, and when Valerie arrived she made him sit somewhere else.
When dinner started she kept correcting him on table manners and telling him off on the things he was doing wrong regarding how he spoke and looked.
Overall though her remarks were ignored, mostly because he didn't really care what she thought. And getting riled up would only result in another fight, something he didn't want to happen. She also asked him if he learnt from his mistake. The mistake being the fight in her office. Now, he doesn't know if he learnt from it per say but he did feel guilty. He should've controlled his anger. At least tried, but he didn't. And that made him feel regret because nothing had changed. He was still a monster and he knew that. But after his confrontation with Sera he had this small sparkle of hope. Something he shouldn't have had since he was a lost cause.
Right now he was in his room after having to excuse himself from the table. Couscous was for dinner, it was really good just like the pasta for lunch. Guess Valerie had a knack for cooking.
He yawned, sprawling out onto his bed. For some reason he felt really tired after eating, even though it was like six thirty in the afternoon. At least he guessed it was, the sun had already set and it was pitch black outside.
His eyes felt really droopy, maybe he should just go to sleep. Shuffling under the covers, he realized that the lights were still on. He sighed, getting up to turn off the lights. Darkness engulfed the room, and it took him a couple seconds to adjust. Walking over to his bed, he fell down, going under the white coloured sheets. Getting comfortable, he fell slowly into unconsciousness.

The next morning was strange. He felt well rested, something he hasn't felt in a couple of months. No nightmares, nothing. Now, he knows that he also didn't have any nightmares during his stay at the hospital, so maybe this was a new occurrence. But the thing is that during his stay in the hospital he had some problems with going to sleep and he woke up a couple of times during the night. This night at the house however was different, he slept like a log.
